Top Customer Reviews
I very much like this unit, I bought it after shopping around for a cross-cut with a reasonable price (I mean you are just paying for a couple of motors and some blades in a box) and I thought that the price of this combined with the very high reviews probably meant that it would be worth it.
The shredder arrived quickly on Prime delivery and I inspected it for any defects, of which I only found one (one of the rotating blades had teeth that were out of line by about an inch - not enough of a problem to send it back, but it does mean that the cross-cut occasionally is twice as long as it should be on one strip. They had evidently run an oil sheet through it in the factory to test/oil it after manufacture. I could tell because there was a small piece of the sheet still in the shredder teeth. Seems like a good practice, and I was happy to see that it had been oiled already.
I tested the device on a few sheets and was very happy with the outcome. Having passed my check, I put it to use on chewing up some of our old financial documents which were simply sitting around in the filing cabinet because we didn't want to throw them away without shredding them. It did a fine job. I then used it to chew up an old debit card, which had been sitting around past its expiry date - again it worked admirably. The cross cut size fits the advertised security rating (P-4) in about 99% of cases, with an occasional longer bit slipping through. It is unlikely that you'll need a smaller cut unless you are actually a mafia boss on the run.
There is a reverse (helps to clear any jams) and always-on function, as well as an automatic function which turns the shredder on when you insert paper.Read more ›
1. Advertised as not handling staple/paperclips - machine packaging says it does ( and it does)
2. advertising says does not take lubricating oil - instructions says it takes lubricating sheets ( which had I known would have bought them at the same time).
Apart from those niggles ( which cost it a star) the machine is great. It munched through a two year backlog of old business documents, at a steady pace, 6-7 sheets of 90gm paper on average, did not overheat once, emptied the bin regularly so no jams, its not exactly quiet, but not loud either ( quieter than my previous Fellows ) did most of my shredding whilst watching tv and the noise did not unduly distract.
Its early days but it seems it is a better buy than my Fellows, which was disappointing in all levels and caused the delay in getting another shredder, as I wasn't sure shredders were worth the money based on that experience. This Rexel has restored some faith.
Today I tried to shred half a dozen sheets only to find that the unit was jammed. I was somewhat annoyed at first until I found that a coin had accidentally fallen into the slot. After freeing the coin the unit worked perfectly, but the coin was destroyed.
I thought a slide-out bin would be less messy than units where you remove the top. But in practice, once you slide out the bin all the paper from the cutters falls onto the space left and you end up with a mess anyway.
It has a sleep-mode, if you leave it in auto too long and will wake from sleep with the first page inserted; it also has a more traditional on/off rocker switch on the back.
I've not used the plastic CD or card yet - but I can guess like most shredders it will only hit the card in 3 places anyway.
Still, a great unit for home-office printing.
This shredder is really impressive; it performs really well in use and gives an excellent fine shred (just 4mm by 25mm) making sure your confidential documents really would not be worth putting back together!
The shredder has a security level rating of 4, this rating is an EU standard guideline, where 1 is the most basic, and 7 is the best (which goes past ‘espionage safe’ apparently). So level 4 is a fantastic standard much more than I need for shredding information at home but it’s nice to feel my information is definitely safe with this shredder.
The shredder easily eats through 7 sheets at a time and copes easily with staples although I do prefer to take them out if I can.
I personally love the black gloss look of the shredder and although weighty it doesn’t take up too much space, measuring roughly 18cm wide, 33cm deep and 35cm tall.
All in all this really is a fantastic shredder that goes above and beyond what most users in the home may need, but it gives real peace of mind, and is a real quality shredder. Very highly recommended.
PROSTYLE+5 AND COMPARISON
This little shredder packs a lot of punch for its weight, certainly much smaller in size (I have uploaded some images of the two side by side), the shredder body measures roughly 16cm wide, 27cm tall and 33cm deep.Read more ›

Love this shredder so far. The only issue I've had was it was a bit messy when emptying it but that's probably because I left it to long to empty it out. It hasn't jammed yet.....Published 14 days ago by 3LLY 35
