The story is written almost exclusively from Andi’s perspective and will take you all over the globe and while I loved the main characters, that doesn’t mean I agreed with everything they said and did throughout the novel. There will be times when you want to shake Andi and tell her to get over herself, just as there will be times when you will likely hate Carrick, but that’s all a part of what makes the story such an interesting read. I personally loved getting to see the different sides of the character’s when they went go-karting in Malaysia and when they watched ‘Cars’ in Carrick’s hotel room in China. It’s the little things that make you fall in love with them and their story.
Honestly, all you really need to know is that the ‘will they, won’t they’ story of Andi Amaro and Carrick Ryan is well worth a read.
Carrick Ryan. What can I say about Carrick. The hottest and fastest F1 driver out there and his hotness just melted through the pages - I do love an Irishman and being an F1 driver too, well. The chemistry between him and Andi Amaro was palpable from the get go and I kept singing to myself - Just Marvin Gaye and get it on!
The whole story isn't just centred around F1 though; dealing with coping with death years later, a little PTSD, and of course relationships - friendly ones and loving ones.
Carrick and Andi know they want each other, need each other but Andi keeps running away - so frustrating! But you can understand her reasons. I just wanted to make Carrick all better every time she left ;)
The book flows so well, I love how it takes place in different countries and that there was humour in there as well as serious moments and the sex of course - that was H.O.T. It is an emotional rollercoaster at times which is what I love.
I loved all the characters in the story - except for Sienna, just ugh. I really warmed to Petra though, an awesome friend!
I really loved this, a big fat five stars from me!
Samantha Towle has given us some pretty hot book boyfriends in her time - The Mighty Storm, Wethering the Storm, Taming the Storm and Trouble - were all addictive novels to read but Revved takes the trophy for s e x i e s t yet!
Andi is a female mechanic - stong willed in nature and a stunning mix of Brazillian and English beauty. She has been bred in the Formula 1 curcuit with her Dad and Uncle and moved back to Brazil when she was young. Andi is an amazing lead female - she's a perfect mix of shy, outgoing, s e x y and tomboy-ish. She mutters rubbish at the same time as speaking such sense and yes, I realise all of the above are contradictions but that's what Mrs Towle has done - balanced her beautifully.
"Why can't I stop talking? I know I'm making it worse, but the words just keep spilling."
"I always want you to be who you are. Don't ever try to be someone you're not. I happen to really f***ing like who you are."
Carrick is one of the top Formula 1 drivers in the world - he is a play boy on and off the track leaving a trail of destruction in his wake. Or at least the papers make it seem this way. He is s e x personified - everything about him made me go weak at the knees...over and over again.
"Every f*** is a good f*** Andressa - at least with me it is."
Their story is different to anything I've read in a long time - it was refreshingly real, the characters messed up and weren't perfect and that alone made me fall in love with Revved that little bit more.
A gem of a novel from Samantha Towle - bring on Revived!
Andi is a motor mechanic working for man whore F1 driver Carrick Ryan. Her dad - also an F1 driver - died on the track so she's determined never to date a driver so as to avoid going through what her mum went through. The set up made for some good tension and jealous fuelled angst as Andi tries to hold out in the face of his relentless flirting. And Carrick would be impossible for anyone to resist for long with his smouldering eyes and his swaggering confidence. Meanwhile they become friends, leading to some warm and fuzzy scenes as they spend time together and really get to know one another.
Inevitably, she finally caves and all of that pent up lust generated some great steamy smut, but it's not long before the fear creeps in again. And that was where my aggravation came in, for this took us into a plot loop where she gives in then pushes him away. The first time I was sad for her, but I lost sympathy with her each time she did it to the point that I wanted better for Carrick.
Although I couldn't say this is my favourite book by this author, it kept me reading avidly and got me all worked up, so it was a pretty good read overall. I Loved that it was a standalone too.
