In my video we haven't quite managed to control it as well as we might - excuse the collision with the curtain - but hopefully you at least see it in action and get an idea of size.
The car is billed as being at beginner level in terms of controls - I would say that's about right. I like the fact that you can steer it and go back and forth and being able to flip it over (going forwards and backwards in quick succession achieves this) is a great touch. We've used it inside and also on a brick path with no ill effect. I'd say construction wise it does look a bit flimsy but actually it's sturdier than it looks, the tyres are probably going to wear down a little though as they are made of foam, not rubber.
Great fun for adults and children alike and would be excellent as a gift for Father's Day or Christmas - we are going to buy another for a family member as a gift and think it is great.
However, the children like it and it is easy to control. It wont go far on grass but in your home or level ground it has good speed. The ability to flip it is great the kittens go crazy when we flip it. The family seems to be satisfied with it and the kittens are exceptionally happy. They have been scratching at the box to take it out. But, all good things come to those who wait and the last thing I need is mental cats.
Although, I have this nagging feeling like everything else in life the novelty will wear off and this little toy maybe relegated to the toy box (how sad), until the next new toy makes the solemn procession into the living room.
The remote control.
It needs 4 AA batteries and to open to battery compartment you need to unscrew a temperamental screw. The aerial is very flimsy and broke twice the first day, we were lucky to find a replacement, but the range of the unit is nowhere near the claimed 10 meters, is more 4 to 5 meters in the open.
The charging of the car takes a few hours from a USB connection but once fully charge the battery last 20 minutes at most in the normal mode, significantly less in turbo mode.
The car itself is nice and can be fast and fun to drive, but again is flimsy and after a couple of crashes the front axel was bent and needed some repairs.
It has been 2 days since we had it and frankly I will be surprised if this car last a week.
Is not expensive and can provide some fun, but this is not durable car.
A remote control car which flips over isn't exactly a new thing, so I wasn't expecting much, but this thing surprised me,
a) it's small, only slightly larger than the size of your hand
b) it's got an on board lithium battery, more like a helicopter than an RC car
c) it's FAST. Really fast.
I noticed you can change the speed it runs at using a rocker switch on the top, the slowest gives you good control indoors, but the fastest just makes the car go insane and flip over.
One of the best things is that when it flips, it has some kind of gyro on board so it knows it's flipped and carries on going the same direction, even though now technically it's facing backwards.
The tyres are foam sponge material and not rubber, so I'm not sure whether they will wear with a lot of use.
