5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, excellent customer service 11 April 2013

Product is better than expected from Revell. Looks like a detailed kit from a vendor Revell bought from.
Plastic is not thin and the "embossed," molded on details are very good. They are good enough that molded features could be "detailed out" with paint, or serve as a go-by if the builder wanted to sand moldings off and scratch build. The cockpit is not detailed, but I prefer that. Once again, it lends itself to the builder adding features to "detail it out". There are about 67 parts so it's a quick build. Kit includes clear parts (closed canopy), a realistic pilot and a ground crew person (no "smudged" details), as well as clean, neat multiple decal sets, for ex. U.S. Viet Nam Bien Hoa, French, and a U.S. National Guard unit. Decals include stencils and excellent instructions to apply them together with each of the decal sets chosen (Viet Nam, French, Nat Guard). Being an older molding, the panel lines are raised, not engraved. Great kit for the price. The vendor provides excellent service - Model Empire USA (modelempireusa.com).

The only complaint I have is with the picture. The picture shown is not what is on the box. Otherwise I liked the model and was quite realistic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice for the price. 24 May 2012
By James Browning - Published on Amazon.com
I hadn't build a model in 15 years and decided to build an F-100 since my dad flew them in Vietnam. The model is very accurate since I grew up seeing them on air bases and used many photos of real F-100's from military archives online for historical accuracy. I decided to do a camo paint scheme reasonably close to the "huns" that flew in Vietnam around '67-'68. Not an easy feat as I'm not investing in an airbrush and used spray(can) paint. Tan, military green and white. There were 2 shades of green used on the real planes but I wasn't going to invest a whole lot into it. This would be a much easier build in just silver color, but that's my doing. I needed to use a little contour putty where the wings join the fusalage due to fit. I decided to build the kit with no landing gear, flying(hanging from the ceiling). If you omit the landing gear you will need to contour putty a small hole under each wing where the landing gear assembly would have been. No big deal. However the wings have a front aileron-type thing(spoiler?)on the leading edges which I guess slows the plane for landing. These could have been mounted in the down position, but to mount them at all with the wings in one solid piece(as in flight) I had to grind down about 18 plastic prongs on the wings for proper fit. This worked well as I used a rotary tool with sanding wheel. Then the fit was good. If you just want to build the kit like the box photo, I reccomend this product highly. If you want it "in flight" and/or camo colors, it's a challenge. The two clear pieces that make the canopy did not fit up too well, a minor issue, could be only this one model, all are different depending on many factors. Very nice model kit all in all!
