This is a sensitively drawn depiction of a marriage at a crossroads once the children have grown up and left home. Jan’s husband Keith has become a stranger existing under the same roof but shutting her out of his life. Unable to communicate with each other, Jan takes off for the weekend to a university reunion of old friends – and temptation. The characters are very believable – and we learn about the lives of the children too and their various reactions to their parents’ crisis. We are kept guessing to the end how things will be resolved. An absorbing family drama.

4.0 out of 5 stars If You Enjoy "Second Chance" Types of Stories... 13 Mar. 2015
By Geraldine - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I love second-chance, starting over type stories and there is definitely that element in The Reunion by Helen Cannam.

I read the whole kindle book in a couple of afternoons, wanting to find out what would happen next. That's always a good sign when reading a novel.:-)

The characters are well developed and the story moved along at a good pace throughout.

I'm taking off one star as I thought the romance with her former classmate at the reunion could have been developed a bit better. That part of the story lacked depth and feeling I thought but didn't detract too much from the story overall.

Recommended!

3.0 out of 5 stars A good read 29 April 2016
By sandy - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
A real easy read. Nothing gripping or over the top, although I found myself enjoying the story. I feel the state of this marriage is probably found to be a very common pit fall in a lot of marriages. The story is how this couple copes with it.
3.0 out of 5 stars Quality of book. 17 Jun. 2015

This book was predictable from the beginning I found the plot slow-moving and characters not developed. The end was rushed and seemed unfinished,
