Without giving it all away, the story moves quickly an tracks the mistery of why Kirks body is stollen and taken off world by unknown attackers and how this one act threatens the very existance of the Federation.
Shatner reads it himself. As you might expect, its entertaining in his usual style, but his impressions of the other characters are bad (Picard) or none-existent (Riker). However, you can usually get past this as the post production/sound is very good.Real effort has been made hear. Music plays in the background and sound effects (e.g. bleming up) increased the entertainment factor, allowing for repeated listening. I may be wrong but it doesn't seem to be available on CD despite the reading being broken up in chapters ala a cd. Defiantly check it out if you can.
Book received in condition it was advertised which I was very pleased with and the speed of the delivery as well. Would buy from this seller again.
The plotline is superbly paced, although many of the references to The Original Series (TOS) may be lost on some. Lots of story threads are neatly interwoven to produce a logical, (sorry Spock) and clever tapistry. The pages turn rapidly on, setting Kirk in an almost Arthurian role, with Spock as Sir Lancelot, faithful beyond the apparent death of his friend. Yes, the initial plot is a little contrived to get Kirk back, but this is science fiction and you don't get fast gung ho action from the Next Generation or the other spin offs. This book would need a series to do it justice if it were to be put on the screen. This one goes on my favourites shelf!

I bought this because it is part of (I believe) a nine book series by William Shatner. It is an alternative version of the Star Trek First Contact story.Published on 24 Feb. 2013 by P. Grayson

Bill Shatner knows how to write a brilliant story and he knows what each character would do or say just like in the television series.Published on 6 Nov. 2012 by Victoria
