This book was extremely useful for my essay. It's an incredibly enlightening book and a refreshing read, though perhaps a bit too heavy for those who are not familiar with the French Revolution.

HASH(0x896d25c4) out of 5 stars Outstanding new Marxist thinker 6 Jun. 2006
By Bill Dewey/Reclaiming Quarterly - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This volume presupposes some familiarity with leftist theories of the French Revolution. A generation ago, Alfred Cobban undermined the standard Marxist "bourgeois revolution" interpretation of the revolution, but offered little in its place. Around 1990, George Comninel examined the wreckage and began to outline new directions. This is one of the more promising works in the Marxist tradition in recent years, and will hopefully be followed by a more "constructive" volume that fully rethinks the French Revolution and its impact on theory and practice today.
