Speaking at CEPS-ECMI on the presentation of this book, Mr. Tilman Lueder, Head of the Asset Management Unit of the European Commission, affirmed that it undoubtedly contained the most useful guidance for the Commission in setting its policy agenda for the next 3 to 5 years.
After several months of thorough research, ECMI launched the final report of its task force 'Rethinking Asset Management' on April 19 2012 at CEPS Brussels. The report presents, next to a set of policy recommendations put forward by task force members, a comprehensive assessment of the future of asset management after the crisis with the main focus placed on the recent changes in regulation. The report comprises four main sections: (1) financial stability and investment management, (2) product structuring and use of derivatives in retail open-ended investment funds, (3) distribution, investor choice and protection, and (4) contribution of the asset management industry to the real economy.
