I worked in Asda for 12 years and this book could of been written for me, even right down to the soap powder commercial re-enactment for an interview. The night staff, managers, arse kissers and even the retail 'lingo' were all portrayed exactly as I remembered them. If you've ever worked in a supermarket, then you need to check this book out. (excuse the pun) Hilarious.
Dull rant, I speed read through things like this in the hope of finding something to justify wasting time on it but no, there was nothing there! Don’t waste your time!

Having worked in retail for many years and finally escaped I was eager to read this book to see if it matched up to my own experiences and it did not disappoint. I could relate to the customers and staff described in this book and it brought back all the reasons I chose to leave retail behind. The book was short and I was read it in less than an hour but I was hooked from start to finish. I hope the author writes a sequel. Got this as a freebie but I would gladly have paid for it. Well worth a read.
I've never worked in retail but I've never stopped laughing whilst reading this book! I loved his sense of humour and I shall never go shopping again without thinking of the oft heard comment "now what are you going to do with this outdated product...."! Even if you've never worked in retail please read this!!
If you've ever worked in retail you need to read this book. From whining snotty nosed kids to rating the hottie's in the store this book has it all, it almost feels like it was written about my life. Every anecdote hits the nail on the head when it comes to staff, management and all those lovely customers. I genuinely laughed out loud many many times whilst reading, it was a surprising breath of fresh air. My favourite has to be the answer to 'what you intend to do with that out of date product?' Hilarious!
A very accurate overview of working in the retail supermarket world. I read the book in 2 hours. I love shopping in supermarkets and this book has given me a great insight into what goes on behind the scenes. I have always respected the staff who work in supermarkets and fortunately, I have never had a bad experience with any of them. Much respect to all.
Working in retail myself I thought I'd try this book. It is so funny and amusingly true, not sure you'd get it if you hadn't worked in retail but I loved it. Not a very long book but well worth the read
Having also worked in retail, although not as long as this (sad) individual, this resonates with me and sometimes makes me sick in my mouth when I remember all of these kinds of employees, managers and customers. Rob clearly has spent far too much time on the shop floor. Just glad he has escaped that world and is now doing something he enjoys, as well as making people laugh and cry at the same time!
