OMG, this book should come with a health warning. I cried, most of the way through it! I couldn’t put the book down until I’d finished torturing myself and as a result, I woke up looking like a puffy eyed mess!

What the hell happened? I’ll tell you what happened. I didn’t read the synopsis or any reviews prior to starting this story! Never again, though, that trap won’t befall me again, ha!

So, was the story good? Yes, it was brilliant but oh so emotionally painful. I can understand the mixed reviews though. At 20% I didn’t think I’d finish it. At 50% I was moderately enjoying it. At 70% I was a soggy mess. At 100% I loved it, but not enough to put myself through the pain to read it again, hence my 4.5 star rating.

Aubrey has created another personality to protect herself from further pain and also to protect others from her. She has lost those closest to her and she is not prepared to let anyone close enough for it to happen again. That is until she starts college and she comes face to face with someone from her past, someone she loved as only an 8 year old can love.

Between Aubrey, Raven, Kaeleb and Quinn, this is an epic rollercoaster of emotions as we learn why each is damaged and how they draw on each other to live. There is a gentle warming as Aubrey finds herself again only to be hit with ice in the face as she once again crumbles into a black hole of pain.

If you are up for a cry-fest then I highly recommend this read but be warned. You will cry and it will be painful but in the end, you will have actively participated in The Resurrection of Aubrey Miller. Keep the tissues at the ready!

I'm still sat here sniffing, and wiping ugly leakage, after finishing this amazing book.
Usually I wait a while after an ugly cry book, before I write my review, but I wanted to write this one while it's still fresh in my mind.
This book was just wow, an amazingly beautiful and heart wrenching tale, of love, loss, sadness, self discovery, awakening, so many different emotions and factors going on in this book.
At this point, I would summarise this story, a bit of background of the characters and what happens, but it's practically impossible to summarise this story, without destroying the reading experience for someone going in blind. You need to know nothing, and be open to whatever is thrown at you.

"this is my story – my fight to emerge from underneath the shroud of death that I was fearfully hiding behind for so many years.”

What I can say about this book is that, it was told in the most incredible style of writing. Beautiful and profound, with so many different messages being conveyed, I walked away evaluating so many aspects of my own life. It had that much of an effect on me. It's not often that you come across a book, that you know holds so much meaning, and will impact on people in completely different ways to yourself. You come away feeling a mix of numb and fuzzy at the same time. (Yes, incredibly odd description, I know) It wasn't just a perfect story though, it was the incredible combination, of characters who were so beautiful inside and out, but not in the obvious, fake way. The sort of characters, that you were sad to finish their story, I wanted to know what happened further down the line. Mixed with the kind of writing, that felt like you were not only reading the story, but watching it too.

Such a good book. Buy it. Read it. You won't regret it. A book about loss ,love, depression and life. Even in the darkest moments of our life, if we really want to, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I read a lot!

I love it when I find an absolute pure diamond.

The resurrection of Aubrey Miller is a pure, brilliant, sparkling 1000 carat diamond.

Aubrey is surrounded by death and thinks as an 8 year old girl that she is cursed and no one should ever be allowed to love her or get close to her as they will suffer a terrible fate. She builds walls, armours herself with hideous piercings and becomes Raven.

" The simplicity of living astounds me. But it's the terror of death that devours me."

When she is roomed with the pink princess Quinn, the thaw begins and bits of Aubrey start to resurface. Kaeleb McMadden a ghost from her past awakens and unlocks the painful memories and the healing continues.

" The blanketing comfort of love, the fulfillment of contagious laughter, the peace of finding true joy, the butterflies of uncontainable excitement ...these are all the things that make up life. They should never be taken for granted."

" As long as you continue to travel through life in this darkness, you will never know how beautiful your light truly shines when you let yourself love and be loved. Trust me when I say, it's a breathtaking sight. You burn as bright as the sun."

The writing by LB Simmons in this book is poetic and totally hypnotic. I even didn't want to watch England play Italy in the World Cup so I could sit and read - and believe me I love football. I was persuaded to watch by my football loving friends and family so had to be sociable instead.

If you are expecting smut, there is none of that. If you love a gripping romance, click it like it's hot!

I have to give you my favourite clips to melt your heart.
