After finishing this book, I'm unsure how to feel about it - I have no strong feelings one way or another. The writing was fairly solid but, for me, it fell short of being compelling although was still a pleasant way to pass my time.

The prologue was a great start but the first chapter ripped me from that initial comfort zone. I checked and realised I was reading the second in a series, so maybe it would flow better, or be understood more, by those who have read book 1.

That feeling became sort of a recurring theme for me - I got a little lost with so many characters suddenly on the stage and their relationships, but chose to write off any confusion based on it being book 2, nd introductions might have been made in book one. With this in mind, it probably isn't suitable to read as a stand-alone novel, and I would advise anyone interested in the series to begin at the start.

The trope was a fairly straight forward shifter one and I found myself on comfortable ground. The writing flowed well and the storyline was easy to follow. I think what I liked best was that the reader wasn't left hanging for romantic resolution - that thread wasn't drawn out at the expense of the story. The elements were all there for a great story but, personally, for me it just missed the mark.

However, I would read further books by Ms. Dover and am especially intrigued by her series about the Fae.

I was issued a free copy of this book on NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I'm a big fan of all this author's books, and I loved the first book in this series! I couldn't wait to read this book, so I signed up for the Blog Tour! I was really happy when I received my ARC and I started reading it as soon as I could! This book was amazing! It only took me a few sittings to read and I zoomed through it! I almost wish that I had read it slower lol, and I loved it as much as the first book! This book also tied in with the second book in this author's Armed & Dangerous series, Roped In, which I thought was really cool as I didn't make the initial connection in the first book! I also loved the plot of this book! It had plenty of action, suspense and romance in it to keep me desperate to find out how everything was going to progress! It also had quite a few really hot scenes too! The plot also had lots of twist and turns in it to keep things interesting as well! I just loved it and it just kept getting better and better! The characters were also amazing and made the plot even better! Tyla was the main female character, and she was such a strong and brave character, but she had also experienced a huge amount of loss! Once I read her story, I was able to understand why she was scared to start a relationship with her main love interest! My heart also completely went out to her because quite a few guys wanted to mate with her and all Tyla wanted was to be with her true mate and be happy! I also connected with Tyla all the way through this book and I loved her bravery and how protective she was of her main love interest! Tyla also grew a lot in this book, which I loved! Sebastian was the main male character and main love interest of Tyla! Sebastian was seriously hot and very, very protective of Tyla! He had every reason to be considering the situation they were in!Read more ›

This is book 2 of the Royal Shifters series and Tyla and Sebastian's story. We met both of these characters in the first book but got to know Sebastian a bit better, he was the royal assigned to protect Bailey (the lead woman of book 1). We get to know Tyla a lot better in this book, it's dual POV but the majority of the chapters are written in Tyla's POV.
Tyla has a tragic past that means she's reluctant to give Sebastian the time of day when he makes his intentions to pursue her clear. She's been in love before and that love was tragically snatched away from her so she's determined not to succumb to her feelings and leave herself vulnerable. But little does she know how her stubbornness is affecting Sebastian. As an unmated male who has found his mate, only to have that mate deny him, he's being driven crazy with rage with his need to make her his.
There a bit more to this story too with Tyla's cousin going missing, her and Sebastian set out to search for her and find themselves in a whole heap of trouble.
I really enjoy these books, I like L.P. Dover's writing style and I love a good shifter tale, especially one that has a meaty and well thought out plot to it.
I'm looking forward to more from this series, I'm intrigued where the author will take it and what she'll do with the other characters.

Resisting the Moon - LP Dover 5 Howling Stars

This is one amazing read, without giving too much away .... Sebastian is an alpha and a royal and as much as Tyla doesn't want to admit it and continually avoids him at all costs they are destined to be mates. When Tyla's cousin goes missing Sebastian is the one chosen to escort her, how long can she resist him for and can he keep her safe?

Another brilliant book in this new series, this is a standalone but there are references to other characters in previous books (you don't need to know them but it's a nice connection) and there's no cliffhanger!

L P Dover is fast becoming one of my top authors to look out for, each book is addictive and consuming. Her style of writing is brilliant and captures my imagination every time and with so many different genres too ! I just know when I pick up one of her books I need lots of time as I'm not going to be able to put them down, this one like the others I've read, I had to read in one session.

I seriously recommend one-clicking this one now !
