In Rescued, we meet Ryder & Jason who come across each other at not the best start but over the course of the story warm to each other and of course end up falling in love. I felt for Jason with his internal struggles and trying to find himself in life, and the confusions felt when he first sees Ryder and gradually allows him to become more of his life because I have no doubt but that for many gay guys in the world, they experience similar encounters themselves.
There was a strong theme of dogs, and rescues running through it and I was very glad that the author did not let this diminish as we got to know the characters. Worth a read.
I fell so in love with Ryder and Jason
Their journey is a emotional but also a beautiful one I laughed I cried a few tears
There connection is so strong between Jason and Ryder you can feel it on every page

Two hot amazing men and puppies perfect
Thank you felice Stevens for Sharing Jason and Ryder's story with us
There's some really sweet moments in this one but the plotting is also occasionally a bit shaky as time jumps take place without clear indication that it's a while later. These are smoothed out as the plot develops though.
Both Ryder and Jason felt like they had their own unique voices, together their relationship felt real and believable. But there were also a couple of cliche elements too, Ryder's mother was a bit stereotyped, Liam came round pretty quickly from his initial homophobia and it felt a bit off that a powerful lawyer as Ryder's dad was portrayed would fall for his wife's manipulation so easily.
Still, they're all minor points and didn't stop me enjoying the romance.
****WARNING...MAY CONTAIN WHAT SOME CONSIDER TO BE SPOILERS ****
for one thing I felt that Ryder's initial reluctance to let Jason in was believable and interesting until suddenly he was fine..seemingly overnight. maybe this needed more of a gradual feel, and more conflict within Ryder.
Then they were declaring their love and Jason disappears for two days and comes back expecting to pick up like nothing happens because he's now fine with how things are!? We don't even get to see his struggle, just skips two days of poor Ryder not seeing or hearing a thing from him! Not sure about this...and Ryder doesn't put up much of an argument.
The relationship didn't really feel like it followed a believable route somehow...having read many m/m romance novels now, this one had the angst, Ryder's mothers one bitter individual! But it was missing maybe some drama and could have done with a little more believable emotions expressed..I felt some of the dialogue about their feelings was a little overkill...like the author was trying to over play it..and it was a little on the mushy side. Don't get me wrong, I think it's vital to have feelings expressed but this was a little over the top in places.
One thing that really annoys me is skipping time..and this does it...especially in the epilogue, now I understand this happens but too much changes from where the book ends and it was a gap too large to be jumped, I felt. I wanted more from the book itself...I wanted too actually read the wedding and more family get togethers with opportunity for banter and humour but I was not only robbed of more from Ryder's father, and the wedding, but also the proposal, and I get to catch up with them two years later when really I felt the book was not really finished. To suddenly have them all happy..having moved on and now with a year old daughter...I didn't get to experience their growth and progress only to then be 'briefed' about everything like a book blurb! not satisfying at all...and I really wanted it to be as it started out really well.
