I hope the author will write more thrillers.
However, stick with it, the writing style develops as the book goes on and becomes rapidly more interesting. The story itself is clever, unique and gripping, if a little far-fetched in its concept.
Without giving the story away, the 'twin' main characters of the book are easy to identify with and you feel personally involved with their predicament - a nice touch which shows the intention of the style adopted by the author. I ended up enjoying the book more than I expected at the outset.
Writing a thriller is not easy. It's a genre that requires additional amounts of character conflict, lots of action, a wide variety of sub-plots and a believable premise (or a premise that the author makes you totally believe) over and above the components of most other genres. To write a thriller, of this caliber, the first time out of the gate - is nothing short of brilliant!
A synopsis of the story has been reiterated numerous times in other reviews, so I'll skip that here. I won't, however, abstain from writing how I literally devoured this book - couldn't turn the pages quickly enough, how I was completely unable to foresee most of the twists and turns this story took, how real the characters were, and how - like most of the book, the ending was a surprise; a very satisfying surprise. One final point...I was unable to find a single scene or character trait where a lack of verisimilitude was evident (quick, where's my dictionary...lol). That's very important to me as a reader and an author.
I hope Lexi writes more thrillers. I, for one, will be there to read them.
