- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 December 2024I am very pleased with the camera but Solar panel cannot keep it charged for long.
I have got it on basic settings PIR trigger record only, lights dimmed right down.
To top it all I paid over £200 now it's £159 approximately 2 months later.
Overall dissopointed with charging side and paying over the odds ,roll on Summer Sunshine.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 January 2025Let me start by saying Reolink Customer service is 5* If you have any doubts about buying Reolink then let me say that you will get fantastic customer service from Sandy and the team there. I have over a dozen other Reolink cameras over several properties and whilst on the whole they have been fanntastic some have failed after a couple of years. I didn't need to worry as Reolink replaced them no fuss or arguments and they now work perfectly again..........
This Camera was received very quickly.
Set up was easy and it connected to my wifi easily. Unfortunately it doesn't stay connected and can struggle to reconnect, this may be my WiFi but the other cameras installed are fine.
The daytime picture when working is clear, unfortunately the colorX night time image is a really weird yellow hue, it is still clear and focused but a bit too yellow. I know this how it's supposed to be as my other colorX cameras give a daytime like appearance even in the dark. It's not a deal breaker and definitely better than the black and white images you usually get at night.
The battery unfortunately is very very poor. A side by side comparison with my other Reolink battery solar colorX camera shows that side by side from 100% charge, the Altas Ultra is now at 24% whereas the Argus4 pro is at 76%. They're looking at exactly the same thing, same settings, solar not plugged in to either at the moment as I wanted to see how long they would run for on the same settings but the Altas Ultra is eating it's battery and considering it's supposed to have a massive 20,000mah battery it's very poor and is being slaughtered by the smaller battery Argus4 Pro. (During a rare couple of sunny winter days the Argus 4 pro is at 100% but the Altus Ultra is at 19%. They are both charging/showing solar input)
The battery currently is on Red for Altas Ultra and nearly full on Argus4Pro when started at same time at 100% charge and same settings now with the solar panels plugged in.
Customer service have been really helpful, offered suggestions to try and make things better and accepted my findings and comments about the battery drain and solar input.
Reolink have informed me they are selling a 12w solar panel from summer 2025 ( original 6w), they will send me one to try if it helps with the battery loss during the winter months but I think the battery drain is just too much on the Altas Ultra for some reason and the 20,000mah battery doesn't balance out the loss/solar charge unfortunately in dull UK weather.
Also the batteries don't operate well in the cold 🥶 like all batteries, so this is also a problem that can't really be fixed without moving somewhere sunny and warm.
I'm sure in the UK summer it'll be fine and work as expected, but winter is a different matter. They can be plugged in via USB-C cable to keep them powered but that kinda defeats the point of a battery solar camera. Roll on summer to test my theory.
If Reolink provide the 12w panel and it solves the battery drain problem then this would be a 5* review for both the camera and the Reolink team.
Update,
Reolink have asked me to change this review to at least 4* they have also said they have dispatched a 12w solar panel to me. As of yet nothing has been received and no reply to my messages chasing it. If it carries on this way the review will be back at 1*.....After nothing turning up I contacted Reolink, they initially said they hadn't sent any 12w panels as they hadn't got any, they then changed their mind and said they did try to send one but all the stock had been used up. So still no panel as promised, this isn't looking good 😕
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 December 2024This camera's design relies on a solar panel to keep the internal battery charged but in the winter there is not enough sun in the UK to do that, I put the solar panel on a 6 metre pole with a clear line of sight to the south and set the panel's latitude correctly but the amount of sun was not enough to keep it charged. I like the camera's other features but in the end I compromised on the camera's location so I could power it via a mains socket. If I had know about this before buying it I would have bought a different camera.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 October 2024UPDATE:
Reolink sorted me a replacement camera as one I had was faulty ( thanks to Sandy and everyone at reolink) one of the main issues with the original and the replacement camera is the solar panel it doesn't seem to be powerful to power the camera I live in Birmingham and not the Amazon rain forest so should have powered the camera but the battery drained to around 15% so twiddled the settings and turned off the PIR which really you should be able to have that on regardless, anyway the battery went down to 9% so in the end I had to install a power supply up to near the camera and plugged the camera in using a phone charger 5v please if doing this way make sure you don't use a normal plug or go over the stated rating, this solved the battery drain and now it's 100% great, it is a beautiful camera with fantastic day and nightime viewing very clear, however the other issue I've got as was with the faulty one is that the camera does not record everything it has issues ie with animals etc that it will not pick it up unlike my other reolink cameras so I've updated the star ⭐ rating from one star ⭐ to two stars ⭐⭐, even though I love the camera the look of it and its not very big for a PT ( Pan & Tilt ) is I'm very disappointed about it not recording everything which is why I brought the camera for to record everything!!! It's a shame the camera doesn't have zoom.
The camera isn't perfect and buggy which hopefully will be resolved with software updates, one of the bug things is it doesn't record everything even Messing around with the settings I have other cameras near that are superb at recording so hopefully reolink can sort this, one pain is that it goes into standby mode possible because it's a battery camera so say if you have it on a monitor or TV etc you have to click onto a message to keep viewing also if you have it on your app to view time lapse you can't view it on your NVR and vice versa again hopefully reolink can sort it, the length of cable on the solar panel is of fantastic length if it's too long for you then you can wrap it in to a cable box, the viewing quality is superb both in daylight and night time as for the battery seems to go down fast and doesn't seem to charge well maybe it's mine or because weather is cloudy and raining I'm not sure, best thing before you instal is to charge up the camera, overall it's a superb camera which can be a good addition to your CCTV system or just a standalone, also seems to be a bit pricey over the £200 mark needs to come down in price and the bugs sorting.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 January 2025There’s a lot to like about this camera. However, it will not charge in temperatures below 5c making it totally useless during winter months. You can bring it indoors to charge it but who wants to do that every 3 or four days. My advice would be go wired. Solar power isn’t good enough & not worth the hassle. I returned mine as it developed a fault & wouldn’t even charge indoors.

mike canvasReviewed in the United States on 29 January 20255.0 out of 5 stars Turn off pre-recording and only use PIR!
Battery life, image quality, and notification responsiveness have been amazing AS LONG as you make sure you disable pre-recording! My unit have been on 100% ever since I found out that pre-recording was the issue with draining the battery. It’s like 24/7 continuous recording even when it’s not recording, it’s always watching, so that’s why the battery drains the same! Overall, love the camera and would definitely get another one. Connection to my WiFi 6 Linksys Mesh system have been flawless as well!
Amazon CustomerReviewed in Canada on 14 January 20255.0 out of 5 stars Not a cold weather camera!
I really like how clear the video is and how easy to connect through app. But this camera is no good for temperature below 5 degree Celsius. Will not charge on solar or plugged into 110 outlet.
Update: after contacting customer service and resolving the issue (which was the easiest service department to deal with ever) I was sent two new solar panels and a new camera. Now I couldn't be happier! In the windchill of -28 Celsius the cameras are charging and maintaining 100% charge under a medium to heavy daily use. This product is a great product but it's the customer service that really sells. Sometimes it's just faulty equipment when you buy and this customer service/warranty department stands by the product 100%

Alyssa RAVIERReviewed in France on 21 February 20255.0 out of 5 stars Excellente caméra je suis ravi de mon choix

Michael_MReviewed in Germany on 13 February 20255.0 out of 5 stars Super Kamera, excellente Bilder, nur 15f/s, kein Zoom, Akkuladung unter 0°C fragwürdig
Vornweg:

AlexReviewed in Italy on 31 January 20255.0 out of 5 stars Reolink una garanzia
Fenomenale.
