I am rather paranoid about spiders especially huge ones!
I have had these traps out for about a week and for the first couple of days there was nothing. Yesterday morning i decided ti have a wee peek inside the one in my office. To my horror it was what i thought the biggest spider i had ever seen! i quickly decided to investigate the other traps . I had a peek inside the kitchen one and AGAIN a huge spider bigger then the other one ( which I didn't think was possible )!!!
I have now set up more traps and a fortress of traps around my bed. These traps are amazing and I will be buying them again.
Thank you Rentokil for catching these humongous creatures!
ANYWAY. After four nights running of big (I'm saying...2+ inches all around) spiders running brazenly across the living room, dropping in on me in the kitchen, and one crawling from under the bathroom cabinet while I was brushing my teeth, we were pretty sick of it and I went from looking at unreliable £12 sprays that seem to just send them into another room, and decided these were worth a shot. I put one in each space that gets a lot of trouble, and had some to spare, just placed it where I've seen them running before and hoped for the best.
The VERY first day, it caught a big dude, I'd checked it after maybe 8 hours and it was stuck in there. I would've taken a picture but I'd probably forget to take it off my phone and freak myself out. For the next three or four days we ha a lot of catches, all smaller spiders though, and a couple of woodlice. I decided to see what happens and when I saw a spider on the floor so I put the trap near it and it went running straight in, as if I'd put it's favourite food down so I do believe it has something that attracts them in there. I did feel bad for the guy though, he got in and panicked at getting stuck, straining away with his legs trying to pull free...and he DID get free. He was pretty small and not far in - I'm talking like half a centimetre so he was probably barely on the glue at that point, if he'd gone further and perhaps if he was bigger and more weight was in there he would've stayed put. I admired his effort, but for some reason he went right back in and this time he did stick. Weird! He died in less than a minute, no idea but insecticide I'm guessing, unless he'd just stopped moving for no reason.
I reckon this works 99% of the time, you might get things run past it or even manage to escape if they're very quick reacting, but it's worth it for the big ones you really don't want to catch yourself. I've caught a lot in these that I wouldn't have even seen otherwise, which can be freaky, but those are probably the ones that'd crop up and scare you later anyway. This is long, but I wanted to be thorough and let people know they're easy to use, sticky, and maybe not a complete solution but they do help and I'm very glad we brought them!
