I'd wanted this album for many years . Saw the great Walter lure twice gigging in London and finally got this reissue of the waldos album . It's a superb cd , hooks you from the first listen , with revamped classic heartbreakers tracks like countdown love and seven day weekend & flight , to 2 of my new favourites .. Crazy bout your love and the slower.. golden days . This album is an all killers no fillers masterpiece .

HASH(0x90b8f90c) out of 5 stars Herr Luhr Aging Well 15 Jan. 2002
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Walter Lure, late (a word used too often in another more tragic context about the band) of the Heartbreakers, scores well here. This is a solid record, filled with his usual mischief and freshly-stropped guitar. It's so great to hear "Seven Day Weekend" and "Countdown Love" properly produced and executed. (Andy Shernoff of the Dictators conjures a nicely thick and simultaneously sharp sound.) Recommended listening for Lurians and mourning (eternally, like me) Thundersians.

HASH(0x90e11828) out of 5 stars Heartbreakers spirit is still alive, even if Johnny isn't... 24 May 2003
By Keef - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
People forget that Walter Lure was an equal partner in the Heartbreakers, sharing vocals, guitar and songwriting duties with Johnny Thunders. Given that fact, it's no surprise that this is a very good album, with at least 2 great songs. "Crybaby" is simply a classic - a near equal of "Brown Sugar," "Personality Crisis," or any other landmark rock'n'roll tune. "Golden Days" is the other great one, a country rocker in the same vein as "Dead Flowers."
Any NY Dolls, Heartbreakers or Stones fan should own this. You won't be disappointed.

HASH(0x910d12e0) out of 5 stars Turn it UP 19 Jun. 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Found this CD in a shop in some tiny used CD shop in the outskirts of Tokyo. It's a party album much like Live at Max's Kansas City (the re-issue) is, but this one is better, much better. There isn't much else to say other than buy this CD, buy some beer, turn up the stereo, and annoy your neighbors who are boring enough, most likely, to be upset with music that kicks back and stands up to be counted.

HASH(0x910d0014) out of 5 stars Walter Lure keeps carryin' the fire for NYC guitars! 29 Sept. 2006
By MJG - Published on Amazon.com

Wow...I was expecting a decent CD, but this really blew me away! An all-too-fast set of 12 rockers...there's even a slower paced mellow NYC rocker as well (Golden Days). Walter was always the glue that held the band together when Johnny Thunders was having an off-night, in addition to being JT's equal partner both onstage and with the songwritin' pen & paper. Here he proves he can do it on his own. On "Flight" (a Heartbreakers mk. I song from the Richard Hell days), you would swear Johnny is singing background vocals. Andy Shernoff (The Dictators) produced this.

I really enjoy this disc. Perfect for a ride into the city or out to the party with your friends.

Don't chintz and get a used copy. Buy a new CD and support Walter!
HASH(0x910d1610) out of 5 stars RENT PARTY,This disc has more hits than the Sopranos. 12 Dec. 2007

By the time the RAMONES were shaking stadiums in Mexico and Brazil, Walter Lure's corner gang of gutter snipes had taken their place as C.B.G.B.'s neighborhood house band. THE WALDOS shows were spontaneous and frantic blow outs that might see any number of their friends like Johnny Thunders or Billy Rogers joining them onstage to rocket recklessly through their many exciting songs. Their producer Andy Shernoff, the Dictators primo songwriter captured the original band at the peak of their power pop meets gutter punk glory. Songs like, "Love That Kills", "Flight", and "Never Get Away" attach themselves to your memory like gum on your leopardskin Creepers. Essential listening for fans of the NY Dolls, Heartbreakers, Dictators, or Rolling Stones. Walter Lure's old band, the Heartbreakers made one of the all time most important underground rock records and toured England with the Sex Pistols, but to me, this album, "RENT PARTY" is a lot more fun. Scowling guitar hero, bluesman Joey Pinter threw shapes like Townshend and J.T., but played dangerous leads as if his life depended on it. A lovable bunch of hoodlums and trouble makers, THE WALDOS were undoubtedly the last great party band. Jungle Records finally re-releases their classic album with their definitive line-up: Walter Lure, Jeff West, Joey Pinter, and the late Tony Coiro. This disc has more hits than the Sopranos.
