This book is all I could've wished for in knowing more about this GENIUS! It cover's a great deal about his life, including words from both his parents. I haven't finished it yet, but there's so much information on his life and some great pictures old and new on various topics and people. To say I would recommend this book to ANYONE is a massive understatement! If anyone DOES think about maybe buying this book, at whatever price, don't think about it, BUY IT!

4.0 out of 5 stars Renaissance Genius: Galileo Gailei and His Legacy to Modern Science 10 Jan. 2014

I gave this book as a Christmas gift to a friend, a PhD geologist... Just spoke to him and he loved it. The way it was written, and the new insights it has given him about another scientist, his life, attributions as well as difficulties of the Renaissance, wonderful time of many discoveries. Although familiar with Galilei, he found that he learned many new pieces of information that he was not familiar with. The illustrations were also appreciated.

Weakly written, weakly proofread, and even the illustrations prove repetitive and at times unconnected to the text.
