"This book is a beautiful gift to the world. It invites us to receive gifts from Rahim's rich tradition of Islam, translated through his humane spirit and human experience. These gifts are offered without coercion of any kind. This book models the kind of spiritual generosity that, literally, can save the world. Each reading will fill you up and enrich your daily life." - Brian D. McLaren, Christian thinker, author, activist
"Rahim Snow’s collection of deeply personal, heartfelt meditations on 28 key verses of the Qur’an is a remarkably accessible and practical introduction to the ways that the everyday 'practice' of living and praying the Qur’an can profoundly inform and awaken each facet of our spiritual lives...As with the psalms (or other scriptures more familiar to most Western audiences) no special background or learned jargon is required: the illuminating practical lessons and insights evoked here are ones that emerge spontaneously and unavoidably in the course of each life’s distinctive tests and challenges, in our ongoing, real-life interactions with these classic 'reminders' and their ever-present Source. In their refreshing directness, clarity, and immediate experiential basis, these moving insights into the dynamic influences and unfolding meanings of the Qur’an are more directly accessible, convincing and memorable than any number of translated classical sources, learned commentaries and interpretive volumes. Mr. Snow’s gifts as a communicator are readily apparent: here readers from all backgrounds can encounter—in plain English that speaks directly to our common humanity—something very close to the actual experience of the living Qur’an." - James W. Morris, Professor of Islamic Studies, author of The Reflective Heart: Discovering Spiritual Intelligence in Ibn 'Arabi's Meccan Illuminations
"I really, really loved it. It's the kind of book I'd like to read as a family with my teenagers - it gives them the practical application of Islam and would serve as a great jumping off point for lots of discussions. I also think it's something that can be read and re-read and reflected upon." - Amanda Quraishi, blogger and activist
"This is a lovely sort of 'devotional' for the Quran, which I've never seen before. It's also an excellent boost to my own Christian faith. Thank you so much for putting this out there in the world. We need it!” - Terra Elan McVoy, contemporary YA author

The author touches on several themes that are universal to people of many faiths and backgrounds. Each chapter begins with a verse from the Quran which is explained in terms that anyone, regardless of religious orientation can understand. At times, I forgot that the book was written with a specific religion in mind as it is relatable on so many levels.
It's evident that Rahim Snow has an in-depth, broad knowledge of world religion and spirituality because these elements are key in his perspective and approach. "Remember Who You Are" is not only a explanation of a particular faith but also a practical guide for those seeking more spirituality in their lives. Each chapter is a building block in finding a more centered, purposeful existence.
Give this one a read. I highly recommend!
Remember Who You Are came into my life at a time that I needed to pause and reflect on more than just what I see in the physical world. It showed me to look deep inside myself for answers I had been searching for in the world.
The chapter CHANGE YOUR INSIDES really spoke to me. With all the noise going on in the world - especially politically, I was looking for answers in the world...outside. Change Your Insides reminded me that I have to first look at my self and my life. And start there. The ayah that was connected to the chapter immediately brought me peace: "God doesn’t change what’s happening in people’s lives until they first change what’s happening inside themselves." (Quran 13:11)
Each chapter started with an ayah from the Quran and ended with a declaration. This format allowed me to not only follow along easily but to stay connected to the specific theme the chapter was addressing. It also gave me a task to complete after reading the chapter. By declaring (out loud) the words at the end of the chapter, I felt I was making a promise to myself.
In the last chapter, there is a line that really resonated with me:
"These verses range from recognizing yourself as a being from God, welcoming God as your teacher and friend, embracing all people as your family, making creative contributions to your community as God’s artist, standing up for justice, caring for the earth, and working for the equality of women as God’s ambassador."
This sentence is exactly how I feel about God and my religion. Rahim writes so succinctly and beautifully how I feel about my role on earth in terms of God. And this line pretty much sums up why this book is so important in all of our lives.
I will be re-reading this book often and will share what I learned with all of my loved ones. It is too precious not to.
Throughout the book are sentences that resound deep within me as truth, and truth that I need to be reminded of. To me this is a book that is best read with a highlighter at the ready, and I think those highlighted passages will be referred to again and again.
