Product Description

Review

Survival horror at almost its very best . . . Molles and Orbit are certainly onto a winner in a series that deserves to be seen by genre fans be it online or on paper (The Book Bag)

These are my current favorite post-apocalyptic zombie novels! . . . I love how this series builds fantastic characters and poses them with and against one another in super believable situations. I can believe this future...The action is detailed and vivid (Boing Boing)

Anxiety and building desperation fuel this debut zombie thriller . . . Sharply targeted sentences depict an acutely human action hero who wrestles his anxiety . . . Molles's precise construction gives readers ample reason to return (Publishers Weekly)

A well written, taut adventure novel with characters that definitely make a mark (SF Crowsnest)

Book Description

Book four in this bestselling self-published series, now released through Orbit. When a devastating and vicious plague turns most of the population into frenzied killers, a lone soldier is on a mission to rebuild his ruined world.

This novel is the best by far in the series!
A lot more action and Captain Lee is growing on me as a character, yes it has taken this long for me to like the main character. There are other characters that I have liked more and they are all growing. Some with surprising consequences!
Molles is very good at leaving his books on a cliff hanger and I can't wait to start the next to see what will happen

I love the whole zombie apocalypse genre of films and books. Though I'm usually frustrated and disappointed with the amount of dross that is out there. This series of books is first class, I truly have struggled to put the books down when I have started to read them. They are well written by the author, I can't wait for the next one!!

I agree with some of the other reviewers about some of the content being a little off in this book. There was too much touchy-feely, introverted, self-examining, soul reviewing going on in this book. Not by one or two of the characters but ALL the main "goodey" characters. Hopefully that is out of their systems now and they can get back to the business of sorting out the mess their in unhindered by deteriorating consciences.
Having said that, I thought the book was excellent. Some well deserved come-uppances, some disturbing developments with the infected, vicious fighting, survival techniques in abundance, twists in the plot and of course, our hero battling against the odds - it's all there.
There did seem to be a few injuries that were grievous for several pages then forgotten. But our guys are tough, so we'll let that go.
I couldn't put it down. Disaster struck when I absent mindedly ignored the battery low warnings and the kindle died on me! Forced a dash for the charger.
Can't wait for the next book. Come on D.J.Molles - pull your finger out. Need next one. Need next one. Need next one.
Also, I want these in paperback for my son to read.

Son absolutely hooked on this series. He thinks they are great stories, well-written and with an excellent attention to detail. He would highly-recommend them! That's the opinion of a pretty discerning 14 year old who is fussy about what he reads but reads a wide range of books, including classics.

As good, if not better than the previous books. D. J. Molles' books are well written, characters and surroundings come to life via in-depth but definitely not laborious description. My curiosities and interests are certainly captured throughout and have been left wanting more at the end of this instalment of 'The Remaining.' "Hurry up Mr Molles, I really can't wait to download the next in the series!"

Well done d j molles on another superb book. And can't wait to see what lies in store for Lee .....

Great follow on at a fast pace. Plenty of movement. The dangers in some of these long stories can be the authors need to keep the characters in one base. What I think people like about zompoc is the fluidity of stories and the desperate need for the characters to survive on the remnants of society. When a simple tin of tuna is prized or a packet of antacids are a 'lifesaver' it gives that sense of desperation and survival. Molles does more than this in this instalment. I have found this to be the most enjoyable since the first story unfolded in book one. What Molles does not do is overburden the reader with too much military jargon that would have the reader referring to wikipedia every 5 minutes. Great read.

I think this was the first series of books I've read where I've written the reviews back to front! From the last book to the first! This isn't because I read them like this, obviously this would be silly, but because I just couldn't stop I between books! In fact in places I could hardly breath! Better than the walking dead and that's saying something. Keep them coming! I never want these to end.....ever!
