3.0 out of 5 stars Good Read But....... 16 Feb. 2015
By SRose - Published on Amazon.com

I enjoyed this book. It was entertaining and the story was good. I didn't like the following things though:

1. The book described Rip's skin as being bronze colored. Based on the picture on the cover of the book, a description such as mocha or chocolate would have been more appropriate. The guy in the picture is clearly dark-skinned and definitely would not be described as 'bronze'. This might seem as a minor detail but because of the difference in the description I just could not get a clear visual image of Rip

2. I was relieved to see the author indicate that her 'Caribbean' descriptions in the book were based on cruise trips to Caribbean islands because her lack of knowledge was very obvious to me - a Caribbean person. Her descriptions of the dress & foods matched the way the Caribbean is depicted in the movies or during festivals celebrating Caribbean heritage. I was born in the Caribbean and lived on a number of its islands and I wish to assure the readers that we wear regular Western clothes just like Rip and Avery - not long skirts and floral head coverings. There are other stereotypes in the novel but her explanation in the afterword helped to explain why they were used

3. Since the book was romance novel, I felt the romance aspects could have been explored more. The story extensively covered the social and political instability of island and it got a bit tiresome.

5.0 out of 5 stars Danger and Romance in the Caribbean 28 Sept. 2012
By Maddy - Published on Amazon.com

The latest in Loucinda McGary's Adventure Cruise Line series is a fast-paced, heart-pounding excursion into the land of Caribbean regime upheaval--and--romance? Yes! Hero Rip Pollendene is Alpha all the way--former NFL, current successful businessman, courageous, passionate, thoughtful. Assistant Cruise Director and heroine Avery Knox keeps up with him, literally. You feel the heat, the humidity, and the danger as this story unfolds. Fresh new secondary characters abound. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Suu-weet 12 Jan. 2015

The second chance to get to know and learn to love each other. Avery becomes Rip's body guard while he's on a cruise. They knew each other in college so he asks for her. This is a romance novel with a bit on intrigue thrown in. You will enjoy reading this because it takes you on a trip to a different world. That believes in voodoo but it helps you understand what it's really about in their world. Please enjoy, I did
3.0 out of 5 stars His Reluctant Bodyguard 1 Aug. 2016
By Jerry - Published on Amazon.com

I gave this story 3 stars because it was just ok for me. Nothing special. It has some funny parts and action but I felt it had something missing. Avery becomes Rip's bodyguard. RIP is being shot at and his father is dead so he has to find out why and try to save his birth place and the people that live there. It is a good story and I would recommend you read it.
