Product description

After leaving the Virgin label, and a one-off album with Chrysalis, Simple Minds took stock and decided to make records for themselves. An album of cover versions of songs dear to Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill, "Neon Lights", was released in 2001, followed by "Cry" in 2002, an album of new compositions recorded in Glasgow and Sicily. The recordings for "Black and White 050505" were completed on the 5th May 2005, hence the title. This album and "Neon Lights" and "Cry" make their first appearances on vinyl in this box set, with specially-created outer and inner sleeves, and include some exclusive bonus tracks from the CD releases. "Graffiti Soul" continued the band's return to the top, charting at # 10 in May 2009. "Big Music" [2 LP] was released in October 2014, charting at # 12. All the albums are pressed on different coloured 180 gram vinyl, and the rigid slipcase features a brand new note by Jim Kerr.

First time on Vinyl..
Finally we have some albums on vinyl for the first time, this being the Simple Minds' rejuvenation period of some fine albums between 2001-2014. The covers album Neon Lights, Cry and Black & White 050505 are on vinyl for the first time, and hard to find Grafitti Soul is reissued, plus 2014's Big Music over 2 vinyl. The vinyl are housed in a sturdy box, and the album sleeves are nice too. I found the box was a bit too tall to fit with my other vinyl however. A nice feature is the different coloured vinyl, covers album Neon Lights, although easily the weakest album here, is a nice almost clear colour. I would personally have liked the b-sides that are with the newly released CD version of Rejuvenation, on a couple of vinyl, rather than have another copy of Big Music. Hopefully Our Secrets are the Same will be in the next vinyl boxset, as well as the likes of Neápolis, Good News from the Next World and Real Life. Highly recommended.

    I have to say it's a very nice set if not overly fancy. I had a bit of apprehension after reading feedback on the Suede box but I shouldn't have worried. Demon have done a very competent job on this. The quality and condition of all sleeves and records is spot on. I'd recommend this to anyone like me who let the new millennium music of the band pass them by.

    An awesome collection of music from one of pop and rock's greatest bands. Some of the albums are not available as downloads, so having the discs is the only way to listen to the music Simple Minds created in this particular period. The enclosed booklet gives some insight about the challenges the band went through as their fame waned. Once re-charged, they came and are back!!! Great music. Thank you, Simple Minds for sharing it with the world.

    Simple Minds are known for putting out great box sets of their music. Its now possible to get most of their entire catalog from 3 different box sets at a much cheaper price than buying it individually (Except "Our secrets are the same" unfortunately. One of their best albums). This box set collects (in order of release): "Neon Lights", "Cry", "Black and White 050505", "Graffiti Soul" and its bonus album "Searching for the lost boys" (very hard to find), "Big Music" and its Deluxe edition disc 2 which features one of the best songs from these sessions "Bittersweet" (also hard to find). 13-17 of their 19 albums. "Our secrets are the same" can be purchased individually from their "Silver Box Set" from itunes or heard off Spotify. Simple Minds were the greatest band of their generation (thats saying a lot) and still are. One of those bands that lead while others followed. I'm thoroughly enjoyaing this collection.

    Rejuvenation box 6 vinili colorati. Premetto che ho dovuto far sostituire il primo invio in quanto la scatola del box è arrivata tutta ammaccata, con il cellophane rotto (tra l'altro mancava lo sticker e mi viene da pensare che si trattasse di un rifacimento della pellicola): mi dispiace ma un prodotto nuovo (tra l'altro da 80 euro...) e da collezione di questo tipo deve arrivare in perfetto stato. Con il secondo invio tutto a posto, e sulla pellicola stavolta integra c'era lo sticker attaccato. I vinili colorati (diversi uno dall'altro: champagne semitrasparente; bianco; oro; rosso; grigio; azzurro) da 180 grammi, sono bellissimi e all'ascolto sono silenziosi. La qualità sonora è buona ma pecca un po' nelle alte frequenze che sono scarse.
    i 5 album (4 in vinile singolo e 1 in vinile doppio) sono contenuti nel robusto box in cartone aperto su un lato. La stella in meno però è per via del tipo di cartoncino utilizzato per le singole copertine dei dischi: è sottilissimo! Ci vorrebbe l'avviso "attenzione: maneggiare con cura le copertine"! Infatti bisogna stare molto attenti altrimenti si rischia facilmente di provocare pieghe e rovinarle. Non capisco come mai questa scelta. Ad ogni modo se non fosse per questo sarebbe perfetto. Resta comunque un buon prodotto se rapportato però a questo prezzo (79) ma non per cifre superiori (com'era tempo fa o come adesso in altri siti).
