Format: Audio CD
The collective personnel for this album recorded in New York City on October 20 & November 11, 1960 is: Charles Mingus(bass); Eric Dolphy(alto sax, bass clarinet); Booker Ervin(tenor sax); Charles McPherson(alto sax); Ted Curson, Lonnie Hillyer, Roy Eldridge(trumpets); Jimmy Knepper(trombone); Paul Bley, Tommy Flanagan(piano); Dannie Richmond, Jo Jones(drums).
Highlights of the 5 tracks include the haunting title-track, the Charlie Parker-influenced 'Bugs' and a superb version of 'Body & Soul' with trumpeter Roy Eldridge in the company of Eric Dolphy and drummer Jo Jones.
All in all, this CD is a fine example of Mingus's 1960 CANDID recordings which deserve to be more widely known.
