Love this continuing tale. Fell across book one by accident and was hooked! And they just get better as the story lines evolve.

This is another book by morgan rice that has you hooked. I could not put it down, just like the last 10 cannot wait for book 12.

Why we're the 11 books in this series not put into a good old fashioned trilogy of books of a decent size? The writing is distinctly average, and although the plot and characters were initially interesting, they have been stretched very thin now. I don't expect the next, very small novel to be the last. I am sure it can be stretched a bit further yet.

It appears the author is extending the story as much as possible, with no closure in sight - the last two books were very short indeed!...

Not really sure why I continued with this saga after the last couple of disappointments, however Morgan Rice is obviously attempting to drag out Gwendoline and Thor's unfortunate episodes as far as possible. Yet again, the shield fails, a new empire threat, a betrayal from within the royal family and Erecs story continues in a parallel. To add to the litany of misgivings, it was terribly edited with numerous typos, misspellings, and poor grammar. Overall, this could have been wrapped up nicely as a trilogy, and I would advise for those readers who are embarking on this journey to not invest much time after the 'first' empire invasion is concluded!

This book is great. I don't know how or why I am hooked on them. Started reading the first one in the summer and within 3weeks I had finished them all. The story always has some kind of twist to it. When you think the story is going to end, something else happens. For instance you think Luanda is pregnant, great then her husband is dead. Great twist and that is the reason she leaves the ring and kings court is attacked by dragons. The story has an adventure side, a romance side and even a good old family argument.

Pros.

The characters all have different personalitys and do something unexpected

The story changes in one sentence

People are hellbent on revenge

Romance that fails because of old enemy's

The triumph of good over evil

Cons.
Selese's death

The wedding never happened

Reece still loves Stara who I find annoying

That andronicus died cos now Thor has no father to hate

Godfrey realising what it is to be a warrior, I liked it better when he was a drunk

The worst of these is definitely selese's death
That was unnecessary but necessary to the plot

Think Thor should of stayed in the ring for a bit longer and then used his magical druid powers to save Gwen at the last moment.

Overall this is a great book that I would recommend to anyone, especially merlin fans when it was on.
Hurry for the next one!!

This far in, you either like the series or you don't. Personally I think it's decent. I've read all the earlier books and kept on going.

A reign of steel keeps up with the main plot while introducing other elements such as setting erec and his how wife to be off on their own separate quests.
Overall it's well paced and things move quickly (one of the things I really like about this series). Lots of action, some suspense and the story goes on. I'll be fair and say, that the series does get very predictable at times, but it is done quite well. I enjoy it. I will try finish off all of the books in the series. They are quite short generally between 220 to 300 pages at most.
