Top customer reviews
publication compliments it beautifully..
This book covers the period 1923-1945 and
in 21 Chapters and 3 Appendi you probably
have all you need to know about the RA.
The quality of the pictures, the colour drawings
and the 1/72nd scale drawings are excellent and
whilst there is a wealth of pure aviation date, the
more'mundane'areas such as Command Structure,
Camouflage, Factory Production, Unit badges,
RA aces have separate chapters/appendi and there
are welcome,separate chapters covering 1943-45
for both the Co-Belligerent and ANR air units.
An excellent publication
The table offering comparison of aeroplane performance is a little misleading as the Italian planes are not compared directly enough with their actual opponents. Generally the Italians played catch up with their planes and thus were generally flying in inferior machines . It would be good to have serviceability and durability measurements as well. Overall it's good, useful on an obscure subject, but could have sustained rather deeper analysis.
If you are interested in the RA in WW2 then you would want to purchase this.
I really believe it could have been better, if more info on units and performances by units and aircraft was included, but overall its still a good account of the Italian airforce during and before WW2, A subject that does not get much publicity. Definitly recommended to anyone who has interest in the Regia Aeronautica.
