Book 2 is scarier, characters from the first book take a back seat as we meet more of the townsfolk, you may shed a tear or two. It really works bringing in a new author, I had my doubts as to if it could be pulled off but it was seamless.

HASH(0x90de8810) out of 5 stars A strong continuation from Book 1.The pace is quicker, the action better and the creepies in the dark are down right frightful! 6 Dec. 2013

Book 2 of the Refuge saga continues with right where Book 1 leaves off and the transition feels seemless. Given the fact that there is a new author thrown into the mix for Book 2 this makes such a transition that much more impressive. The pace is quicker, the action better and the creepies in the dark are down right frightful. New characters are introduced and play a significant part in the developing plot line while the authors begin to further develop the Book 1 charactaers that the reader has become invested in. The story itself gets darker (no pun intended) and the action certainly ramps up a notch or three which is just how the story should, and would have, played out in a full length novel format. The authors continue to develop good strong characters that the reader will enjoy and become invested in, so much so that for some those characters futures in the story may be disappointing. The mystery of Refuge begins to take on some shape with a small glimpse of how and why this little New England town is being "shifted" through a bizzare version of reality. I'm already looking forward to Book 3 where I have a feeling things are really going to heat up and some actual answers may be unveiled to the townspeople.

HASH(0x8f8e88d0) out of 5 stars Even better than Book 1!!! 16 Dec. 2013
By Wim Biemans - Published on Amazon.com

Two weeks ago I reviewed Refuge: Book 1 and gave it 5 stars because it was a well-written adrenaline rush. Boy, I had no idea what was still to come. Book 2 is really increasing the pace and the horror and the creepiness to unexpected levels. So, that creates an immediate problem: how to rate this when the maximum is 5 stars???
Despite a continuous stream of really strong books, Jeremy Robinson/Bishop is really outdoing himself with this series. If you like to read about things that go bump in the night (or that relentlessly attack anything that moves and appear to consist of some very lethal smoky darkness) you should do yourself a favor and give this series a try!

I'm really looking forward to Book 3. Unfortunately, being an overseas customer, I have to wait for Amazon to reduce the price to a more acceptable level (which they will probably do as soon as Book 4 is published)...

HASH(0x8f8e8888) out of 5 stars Refuge 2 16 Dec. 2013

I'm pretty much loving this series. There's been some scary stuff going on, and way to many people dying. I can't wait to find out what the heck is going on! Now onto book 3. Yep, I'd recommend this story and author, or authors.

HASH(0x8fa2c108) out of 5 stars Very Good Part Two 5 Jan. 2014
By Chuck Shenk - Published on Amazon.com

So far, the series hangs together pretty well, even though different authors are involved. I suppose that's one of Bishop's primary roles. It seemed a bit odd at first that the main characters in the first part were secondary in this installment, but it worked. If anything, it's getting creepier, and I continue to look forward to the next three parts. If you haven't begun reading the series yet, I recommend buying the book as one piece, rather that getting the individual parts.

HASH(0x8f7beccc) out of 5 stars The story continues 13 Jan. 2014
By Deanna Haddrill - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Scarier than the first one, the story really heats up as the town faces it's biggest crisis so far. Sadly, lives are lost, but there are plenty of heroics to be seen. The action is frenetic, and I found myself chanting "ring damn it" to the bells to give the poor guys in the story a chance of survival. Straight on to book three for me!
