3.0 out of 5 stars Sometimes it can be useful... 15 Mar. 2014

Bought this as a supplement to the Bluebook. The examples can be a little hard to follow and not have enough information on a certain topic. However, with this, the Bluebook, UMB, and Coregrammarforlawyers.com (highly recommend) you should be set!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Content rich 27 Jan. 2014

This book is the bible for legal style. If this book were a dessert, it would be 20,000 calories. It is that rich in content. A must have for any law firm, and for young and old lawyers who either are learning to write, or need some help.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential 11 April 2014
By Jesse Medlong - Published on Amazon.com

Anyone familiar with Garner's work will be unsurprised by this pithy, essential guide to legal writing. If I see lawyers do something two different ways, I refer to this book to find out which is right. You can be a good lawyer without being a good writer, but it's certainly easier to be a good lawyer if you are a good writer. You owe good writing to your readers, whether judges, clients, or other lawyers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great legal writing editing tool. 6 May 2015

The prepositional paring section alone justifies the cost of this book to me. This book has saved me countless hours in the editing phase of legal writing. E.g., getting hung up on seemingly unclear phrasing or over-tinkering with layout. When in doubt, just look in the book. The rules/guidelines/best-practices break a lot of editorial ties for me and gives me confidence in my editorial choices. I think this is worth the cost because I intend to use it forever.
3.0 out of 5 stars Not necessary for anyone with a decent command of the English language; helpful for others 5 May 2017

This was a "recommended" book for my Legal Research & Writing Course. I never used it and ended up giving it to a 1L. I'm sure it would have been necessary for someone with poor writing skills and helpful for someone with mediocre knowledge about grammar & punctuation.
