A vivid account of the life of the premier ace of the German air-force in the Great War. Obviously written for propaganda purposes during the war, it nonetheless captures important elements of Richthofen's career and gives an insight into how the Germans viewed the struggle. I found his account of the war on the Eastern Front, and flying Gotha 'battle-planes' most interesting. The book is annotated by a British commentator - also writing during wartime.

Extremely interesting. Well written, unbiased, and what's more accurate in detail. I enjoyed reading this book very much. All national heroes should never be forgotten, and the Red Baron is one of them.

The Red Battle Flyer is an enjoyable read. Although written in a rather cryptic style as per Richthofen's diary this rather adds to the authenticity of the novel. Interesting to hear how the prevailing wind played such an important part in the early dog fights( I am a Microlight pilot and know about wind!) The Baron family and group comes through as very much part of the aristocrocy in war with much chivalry in evidence especially in the early days. I suspect the accounts of dog fights are somewhat censured as the German pilot losses are given almost one liner accounts whereby the famous British pilot losses received better coverage. For the rediculously low price well worth a few nights easy reading.

Over short read and openly hugely edited. Interesting piece of writing if interested in the Red Baron. Not a lot of detail if looking for any depth on the subject matter.

It is not surprising that after the war there was a strong community.its movement in Germany. The text gave me little pleasure.
