This book is a quick read, but definitely a worthwhile read. For anyone who struggle with a dissociative disorder at all, and struggles with getting people to understand what you're trying to talk about when you try to explain your experiences: then this book is great.

When reading this book I felt like I was reading someone explain what I struggled to put into words put into words perfectly. This book alone made me feel less like a freak, less alone, and less self doubting of, "could this experience really be real?" because some healthcare professionals are very sceptical, and overall unhelpful when I've tried to talk about these experiences.

But finally, finally I found someone who could explain it, relate to me, and really show me that life can go on with a dissociative disorder.

This book was an both interesting and inspirational in both content and subject matter. Having heard the author teach I can vouch for her eloquence as much in writing now as much as in her spoken word. Her message is one to be spread. Her experiences and journey of self awareness and acceptance give others hope and therapists a unique insight into trauma work.

Excellent teaching on DID as well as a well-written testimony by someone who has been there and survived.

Carolyn's honest, brave, intelligent and poetically written essays about living with and recovering from DID are a real gift. I read it from cover to cover, and then began all over again.

As someone who is going through that breakdown madness stage of PTSD and DID this book gives hope. Thank you Caroline Spring for voicing what many childhood survivors of sexual abuse feel, think and continuing to work toward a type of help that can't be bought in a bottle. It starts from within.

This is a very real, honest and thought provoking read. As a sufferer of DID myself, the affirmation that I am not alone and other people have the same things to deal with is hugely relieving. This book covers some of the hardest topics to explain with clarity and plain talking, such as shame, guilt and denial. This book however, also covers topics, deeply personal to the author. These are covered without sensationalism and emphasise the fact that this is a disorder that is caused, not just occurring. The book has a bit of ‘science’ in there too providing some clear explanations for those suffering with or dealing with someone with D.I.D. I rate the book 5 stars.

As someone who is also living with DID, I found this book to be the most helpful and inspirational book I have ever read.
So well written and I would recommend this book to anyone who is living with dissociation, dealing with trauma and the repercussions of childhood abuse. I would also recommend this book to professionals working in this field.
