To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.

I've just downloaded this book and have read the first 40 or so pages and she's describing me! She is really speaking from experience and makes a lot of sense. I'm going to carry on reading now and the will review again at the end. But if you are determined, desperate or even only interested in stopping taking legal drugs (alcohol) or other legal (prescription medication) l or illegal drugs, then please read this book. If you can't buy it borrow it. It is looking surprisingly worth it!

Absolutely brilliant book - written for addicts by an addict who has conquered her alcohol addiction, and wants to help you to do the same with your addictions. Bought this after reading the self-esteem help book by the same author, so did have some expectation of this one being good too. If you only buy one book to help you win your battle with sobriety - this is the one to choose. Beth Burgess obviously had a long hard battle herself, and some dramatic relapses which she shares, but she also helps you understand what addiction really is, inspires you to face up to your deceits (no, really, I only had one drink) and shows you how to get and stay sober. What more can I say? Just buy it and get yourself a sober and happy life!

As an addict and now recovery coach, I am always researching books on addiction for inspiration on different ways to help people. This is one of the most honest I have read and simple to follow. Simple doesn't mean ineffective though. Highly recommended. P S Beth's You Tube channel is good too.

Brilliant! It does not bash the 12 steps, nor does it detract from them. I went to AA and relapsed after less than 2 years. AA is not for everyone, or even the majority, but this book IS for everyone. It is full of passion and common sense.

Not happy this is printed by Amazon. The book is very slight and not too enlightening but the binding and paper quality is terrible.

Absolutely excellent read I found it to be the only book on how to stop an addiction and not just about the addiction.
