Format: Paperback
You can't beat this book when it comes to an all round guide to recording. It contains all of the standard methods and variables in the recording studio, with plenty of interviews with professionals. Perfect introduction to recording. If you're looking for a scientific book, this is not for you. But as a practical guide it is highly recommended.

A brilliant, immediate book that demystifies hundreds of apsects of the recording process. The interviews with real recording meisters over a wide range of styles are riveting and very, very revealing.
Coupled with the Mix Engineers companion it's an essential part of even a seasoned pros library, but for the beginner it's essential.

This book provides a detailed insight into the world of a recording engineer. I myself am a working musician and wanted to learn a little more about professional recording equipment. This has some great information including pictures of specific equipment and information on mic placement and guidelines.

This is a great book for any budding recording engineer full of essential set up and milking techniques from pro engineers. I particularly like the interviews and quotes from the producers who have contributed to the book. Great technical manual.
