Comment: NOT PRE-OWNED - SPECIAL PRICE. CD new but has a minor storage related scuff mark, and is still excellent. Gatefold digipak excellent. We are small enough to care. We are not bulk recycler of cheaply sourced pre-owned CDs, and are very selective. Usually shipped in 24hrs MON-SAT, except national holidays.

Product Description

12 brand new songs plus a reworking of a lost Ronnie Self classic. This album continues to mine the themes of the debut, but it goes even further. Yes, there are still songs about heartache and the difficulties of the adult relationships, but also songs that deal with deeper and darker subjects .. domestic violence in the orchestral sweep of No Matter What Tammy Said, the struggle to have a child (Miracle Mabel), the loss of parents (Ashes, Flowers & Dust) and even a song remembering the life of country hero George Jones (The Gospel According to George). The Governor of the heart of Texas, the great Kinky Friedman is also on hand to growl the judge's lines in the divorce court waltz of the opener, Unhappily Ever After. The album is produced by Colin Elliot (Richard Hawley) and features the Hawley band on all tracks.

I had the pleasure of reviewing MDC's first album "How Do You Plead" for one of the country music magazines and had been eagerly awaiting this follow up. So many British country performers have failed to live up to hopes dreams and expectations over the years and never achieved recognition in the USA - I think MDC could change this, and they should take a giant step towards doing so with this album. In my original review I said there were songs on the first album which George and Tammy would have wanted to record and on this album Michael and Lou further their case for being regarded as one of the best male/female duos the genre has seen for a very long time.

Heard this couples music on the Graham Norton show one Saturday and loved the sound. This album is fabulous, not a bad song on it. Its a johnny cash with june carter sound, but better. I have ordered their other album now, cant wait for it to arrive.

Excellent CD in many ways but the sound on some tracks was poor and occasionally difficult to pick up the words. Both have beautiful voices and, sadly, the poor sound quality did detract in some way.

"The Reconciliation" is a first-rate musical achievement. Superior songwriting and singing by Michael Weston King and Lou Dalgleish are complemented wonderfully by their musicians, especially steel guitarist Alan Cook and the terrific trumpet and sax players. These songs stick in your head and heart. It seems impossible to pick my personal favorite on this album because they are all so memorable in a variety of ways. One day I'll have the country torch song "No Matter What Tammy Said" and the Memphis soul of "Our Race Is Run" playing in my brain; the next day it will be the beautiful homage to lost loved ones "Ashes, Flowers and Dust" and the rocking "Leave The Good Book On The Shelf"; another day it might be the rollicking George Jones tribute "The Gospel According To George", the mariachi-inflected "King Of The Carnival" or the gentle remembrance of the birth of Michael and Lou's daughter "Miracle Mabel". This album is a musical feast from start to finish....... a real gem of an addition to anyone's music library. Distinctive packaging and artwork, too!

My Darling Clementine have done it again. This CD is if anything even better than the first. We have seen them live several times and they never disappoint. Mike and Lou are both talented singers and song writers. We bought two CDs, one for each car.

thoughtful, musical and erudite this duo both respect and challenge country music standards. The musicianship is beautifully tasteful but never dull, particularly the pedal steel guitar. If you want to know where the best in contempory country music is, it's here!
