I briefly met the author at a bbq, but don't actually know him, so I promise to be objective. He was a nice family guy who I had a good conversation about our favorite sci-fi and fantasy over a beer. Toward the end, he mentioned that he had written a book and I said I'd check it out, with a fear that he was referring to some terrible drawn out grad school project of some sort... I'm happy to report that is not the case!

McNally's Glenisle map and beautiful description brought the landscape to life in my mind. On top of that, he also has a Tolkien-like ability to use language/dialect, names, and implied history to give the feeling that this is just one story in an entire world in his mind. The characters step into the story with the sense that they have a history and a future, and you keep reading to learn what you can! I feel that if any of them knocked on my door, I'd recognize them immediately and I'd know just what bottle I'd pull out of my cellar to share with each of them.

If you're like me and enjoy plunging into Middle Earth, Narnia, or Alagaesia, then you owe it to yourself to explore Glenisle and the expanding world McNally is creating. I can't wait to see where the next story in the Cycle takes us!

This is the first book published by the author. Mr. McNally wrote well-developed characters without overemphasizing one character over the other. He also found the right balance of descriptions concerning setting and action scenes.

I was able to visualize the setting and action without being overwhelmed by too many details. That is a common mistake with even best selling authors. I got to know the characters in the book by their actions, thoughts, or what other characters said or thought about them.

The book flowed smoothly without any of the dreaded lulls in the action. I am an avid reader and have no problem abandoning a book if I become bored with it. I was never bored.

I have read many Kindle books with spelling and grammar errors because the author did not take the time to revise and edit. This book does not contain those errors. I also enjoyed studying the well-detailed map.

I highly recommend The Reclaiming and plan to purchase other books in the series.

This story is so damn good that I would spend a third of my life dedicated to such a tale. While munching on cheap food, drowning on expensive beverages, and inhaling even higher priced smokes. The amazing flow of the authors writing style is what I imagine Terry Goodkind, Orson Scott Card, and Jim Butcher's three way climax love child would produce. The most unlikely of characters must form bonds to hopefully overcome an adventure that found them. It keeps me on my toes and only slowed down when it had to. If you're looking for a great story and great author, you must read this.

As a fan of epic fantasies, I came in to this book with high hopes and was not disappointed. The characters were well developed and led me to caring about each one as they travelled through the story. The plot kept me interested and engaged throughout, as I approached the end, I stayed up until 2 in the morning because I just had to find out how it would end! Looking forward to reading more from Mr. McNally and planning to recommend this book to fellow readers.

I was completely sucked in. In my minds eye, I could see every scene clearly. There was just enough back ground put into every main character to make you want to know what happens to them all. My favorite character was Gregor, I do love a highlander! The detailed description of the character's was spot on. You rejoiced, cried, and worried about all of them. That is what makes a great book for me. The ability to connect with them on a personal level. I can't wait for the next adventures!
