This may be a standalone but we have met Nora before, when we learnt about Ramsey and Thea who play a part in this story too. We also met Joe and hear of Misty, so yes a stand-alone but this is Nora and Camden story. One with very dark history, but reflects Ramsey story. We hear about that topic from Nora’s point of view. A young girl with a very protective older brother, a father who is abusive and aggressive, meets a young gangle lad down by the creek. A true friendship forms. That goes throughout the whole book. They have such a rough ride between them, one is purged by the hatred of a family , the other is ridiculed by his cousins, who also dislike him. Their bond is tested beyond all reason , and yet they still return and pick up the pieces . There is definitely drama, violence, romance, humour and great writing skills in this novel. It is descriptive, and demonstrates all the emotions known to man. There is good and evil, there is honestly and trust, there is denial, hatred and lies, but most of all there is an excellent story to be enjoyed and told through reading it. Well worth 5 stars. As ever an excellent storyline by a very imaginative author with a fabulous mind.

I love Aly Martinez’ writing! I especially love her heroines and this book doesn’t disappoint, infact it’s brilliant. Her last 2 books were collaborations and I didn’t love it so much because it wasn’t in her writing style. So, I’m very glad she’s come back to solo writing. This book is great. The only comment I have is she still doesn’t write children like children - I couldn’t believe that Nora was 11 or Camden was 12 from their conversation or their thoughts - it was far too mature. That said, the conversation and emotions were beautifully crafted - just that it seemed more like 16-17 yr olds + instead of 11-12 yr olds

In anycase, read this book - it will reach in and steal your heart, break it and then put it back again. I loved it - it’s an Aly masterpiece as usual. 5 stars!!

'Reclaim' can be read as a standalone but I would recommend to reading 'release' first, both books run beside each other and have some trigger warnings.
This time around we get to see things from Nora and cams point of view, I loved how they started off as friends and slowly moved their way to lovers. This book took me on a rollercoaster of emotions, it is well written with a great plotline that had me hooked I could not put it down, it's a beautiful story about love, friendships and the test of time.

Reclaim is a heartbreakingly beautiful story. I would advise you to have some tissues close to hand because my emotions were all over the place throughout this book and I needed to reach for them a number of times.

This I feel is going to be a relatively short review because I don’t want to give anything away. If you have read Release, then you will have already met Nora, her brother Ramsey and best friend Thea, however this book focuses on Nora's story and I have to say that at times the content was difficult to read. I could spend my time thinking about all that Nora went through when actually what I will do is concentrate on how remarkable she is. I cannot wait for you to witness her growth from the 11-year-old girl who sadly even at that young age hadn’t had an easy life, to the woman who having spent years working through what she believes to be her failings, develops the strength, fight and spirit that she possesses today.

Camden is the boy who worked his way into Nora’s heart - spending many hours together one summer at the creek, finding worms and having fun. They have an amazing connection and a love that is so fierce that I more than hoped that they would eventually find their happy ever afters together. Cam is an incredible person and how he supports Nora just made me adore him even more. What I especially loved about the two of them is that they knew that they were destined to be together, they just needed to find themselves in the right place at the right time, and during a few scenes in the story I realised I was holding my breath when things weren’t going their way.

This friends-to-lovers romance receives 4 stars from me. Once I was hooked I didn’t want to put the book down but it did take me some time to get to that point. I enjoyed the anticipation that I felt whilst reading and the emotions that this story brought out in me. I advise you to read Release prior to starting Reclaim, not only because of the spoilers that this book will reveal, but it is a fabulous and emotional story that you don't want to miss reading.
