I really loved this delicious book. It's a terrific, highly readable erotic romance, and I devoured it quickly in more or less one long reading session, which is unusual for me, as I'm usually someone who reads relatively slowly.

The heroine is Katrina, an art valuer, who goes to the Catalonia region of Spain to assess and catalogue the great collection of a prominent Catalan family. When she gets there, she becomes entangled in an intriguing mystery. All is not as it seems, and as the story unfolds family secrets are revealed and masks ripped away to uncover the true nature of the various central characters.

Katrina is a lovely heroine. She seems very real and three dimensional, not some idealised kick ass super-vixen or anything. She's very much at a cross roads in her life, and she's reaching out for new experiences and to expand her horizons after a disappointment. As the title suggests, sometimes she's a bit reckless, and behaves very daringly, but that only makes her all the more endearing and likeable, and easy to identify with.

And the men? Well, I can't say too much about them for fear of giving away too much about the exciting romantic suspense plot. In the beginning, there are *two* hot hunks who could quite easily be the hero, but as the story unfolds, the right man emerges as Katrina's love interest, and he's hypnotically ultra masculine, mysterious and complex. Totally yum!

The region of Catalonia - esp. Barcelona - and art itself are also characters in the book in a way. Saskia Walker's descriptions are lush and evocative, really bringing out the vibrant character of that part of Spain. I went there myself, many years ago, and reading Reckless took me right back to that trip and stirred up great memories. And Ms.

5.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 Blue Ribbons from Romance Junkies! 19 July 2008

Desire and possession are the names of the game in Saskia Walker's latest erotic romance titled, RECKLESS.

Katrina Hammond's life is staid and some what predictable and she has decided that she wants to be reckless. The opportunity for this change of heart presents itself in the form of Sergio Teodora, A Spanish businessman who wants Katrina to price his father's art collection.

Dark, desirable, and handsome, Sergio is used to being in control as well as controlling. Convincing Katrina to come to his villa in Spain to price an art collection of his father's is a piece of cake. Or so he thinks. It seems that Sergio has underestimated his brother, Nicolas.

Nicolas is the disinherited black sheep of the Teodora family and must depend on secret phone calls from staff members to find out what is going on with his family. Receiving a frantic phone call from his father's housekeeper concerning an art collection has Nicolas making plans. The first thing he needs to accomplish? Meeting and checking out Katrina Hammond.

Katrina is thrilled to be in Spain. Carefree and excited, she looks forward to seeing Sergio again. That withstanding, she isn't above having a good time near her hotel with the playful holiday party participant dressed as a demon. Things come to a head when Nicolas reveals himself and Katrina finds herself torn between two lovers as well as brothers.

RECKLESS is unique and unlike any romance I have ever read. Fully expecting champagne and roses and instances of erotic naughtiness, I was pleasantly surprised to witness dark, compelling, and sibling rivalry. Sergio was the brother in control and his desire to possess Katrina bordered on obsessive. He needed her for his agenda while Nicolas' desire for Katrina was not agenda driven. What starts out as a way to get back at his older brother turns into so much more with each love scene with Katrina. Saskia Walker is a genius because the turn of events in RECKLESS shocked me completely.

Arousing, enigmatic, and compelling, I highly recommend RECKLESS. If a dark romance with many suspenseful and surprising moments is what you crave, then RECKLESS is the book for you!

4.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 stars for me. I had trouble deciding between 3 and 4 stars. 9 Oct. 2008

It was well done and enjoyable. I can't say "I really liked it" which is my definition for 4 stars, but I found the romance sensual and fulfilling, and I loved Nicolas, so I rounded up to 4. I enjoyed Katrina's attraction to the two brothers and how it evolved.

Story Brief:
Katrina works for an auction house in London. Sergio hires her to come to his home in Spain to value and sell his family's huge art collection. He needs the money to support his father Jorge who is in a hospice. Sergio tells Katrina that his brother Nicolas is the black sheep of the family and has been disinherited. Katrina is attracted to Sergio and goes to Spain. While there she meets and is also attracted to Nicolas. Nicolas tells her a different story. There is mystery and danger as the truth eventually comes out.

Story length: 309 pages. Sexual language: strong. Number of sex scenes: 9. Length of sex scenes: from 1.5 to 7.7 pages. Total number of sex scene pages: 38.5. Setting: current day Barcelona and Catalonia, Spain, and London, England. Copyright: 2008. Genre: contemporary romance with mild suspense and some mystery.
