I enjoyed the pace and style of writing. Kept me hooked into the wee hours of the morning. The interaction between the characters feels true to life, none of the wilting violet for this girl. Everyone has trust issues, and if they say they don't then they are lying. Its nice to see a good conclusive book, covers all the loose ends and gives some twisty heartwarming moments that removes the predictability usually found in some romance novels. Could have been longer, but I'm a crazy fast reader and I didn't want this story to end :-)
Once again Chloe is a walking disaster, she seems to get into trouble every time she leaves home. I have to say right up front I don't get why she didn't tell Lawson the truth about herself it was silly. Especially as there was plenty happening elsewhere with the plot, her lying was an irritant. But having said that this was an extremely entertaining read. There are genuine moments of humour. There are also a diverse mix of other characters that ably flesh out the story, from Loretta, Chloe's hateful stepmother to Bishop, Lawson's brother. The latter is a bit of a mystery. But as he's to get his own story soon I'm sure all will be revealed. Once again Chloe and Lawson's relationship has it's ups and downs, as Chloe lands in one scrape after another. Overall this was. Very enjoyable read.
Here's the tricky part. How do I do this sequel justice without leaking juicy spoilers? Because this newest chapter is crammed with juicy plot and action. I'm so relieved that Chloe is still...well, Chloe. Sometimes a story goes a little weak in a second book about the same characters, but that's so not the case here. Chloe is still the same spunky heroine we love, and we learn so much more about Lawton's mysterious background (and it's a doozie). There's much more interaction between them in this book, whether conversation or...ahem...other interactions. It's riveting, grittily real, and at times smokin' hot. (C'mon, you know what I'm saying here...)
There were several characters in UNBELONGING who I wanted to see get a good beating, or at least a good old-fashioned dose of comeuppance. Again, no spoilers, but you won't be disappointed in that quarter. (Brittney, Keith, Loretta -- I'm giving you the hairy eyeball...) Some of these scenes are laugh-out-loud funny -- and these losers had it coming!
It's no wonder these two love each other so fiercely. How can you not love a couple like this? I'm an exhausted and satisfied fan. Now off to find some Advil for my eyestrain -- worth it!
Can't wait for Bishop's story....
Who doesn't love a bad boy ;-)
