if we were rating just the price, i would be with the 1 star reviewers, because the cost SUCKS! and Berkley have a lot to answer for! but i'm glad it's been noted the price has nothing to do with the author.
please, all those who have 1 star'd this book, get in touch with Berkley publshers and make your point known, or nothing will ever happen!

that being said, the story itself has got to be the best Joanna Wylde has ever written! i'm always shocked with her work, and i don't know why! lol i should know by now how good she is, but she always blows me away.
she managed to take me from wanting to kill Painter in book 2, to him being a leading man i am lusting over in book 5! not an easy feat.

Painter and Melanie have one messed up relationship worthy of any MC book! the story spans over a few years, so it doesn't feel like there is a quick fix and suddenly all is rosy. it all feels real.
i had no idea how messed up Painter actually was until this book, and boy is he one messed up biker! but i love the change in him. it doesn't feel forced or faked, it just feels like he had the choice to stay as he was and live in his lonely life, or grow up and possibly have anything he never knew he wanted.
Melanie is not so easy to convince.

i kind of want to go back and read it all again :)

I absolutely adored this story, I think it might have hit my top spot for this series because everything about it reminded me why I love a bad-ass biker.

Levi 'Painter' Brooks has been a bit of an enigma throughout the series, he first fell in love with the president's daughter Em, but she soon got sick of his ways and ended up with Hunter. It was alluded to in previous books that he and good girl Melanie Tucker were in some kind of love/hate limbo and that they had a daughter together, but it's not until now that we get the full story.

Melanie is associated with the MC via her surrogate mother, London who is the Old Lady to President, Reese 'Picnic' Hayes. She is not a fan of the MC life at all, she wants to go to college and become a good person with a sense of security and a loving home in her future. But as a young woman, there is no denying her attraction to Painter, and it seems the eternal bachelor can't help his feelings either because he feels it too.

After just one night in each others company, Painter is arrested and for the next year Melanie writes to Painter in prison, forming a bond that will forever be untethered.

When he is released from prison, he is all about avoiding Melanie, for he knows that he will never be good enough for her, she is a pure and good person and he is not. He kills and maims, but deep down he has a good heart.

From here we follow their roller-coaster relationship, with some wonderful butterfly inducing moments and some equally stomach churning angst. With beautiful chemistry and a whole lot of resentment, they spend years going back and forth, with Melanie unable to forgive him for a mistake he will regret for the rest of his life.

Annoyed!! After pre-ordering this book back in January at £6.84 I now see after a lot of 1 star reviews that are only price related this book is now £4.74. So I have paid more than £2 extra. Fine if it goes on sale after a few months but not happy a week after release.

I love this book, I love the series. It amazes me that even after so many volumes, there is still a freshness to the story. In some places, you see a different point of view to an incident covered in another book, and it just brings everything together. Whilst this book is expensive in comparison to other ebooks, I don't take the price into consideration when assessing the work, and the work merits five stars.

I love the Reaper's MC. I loved this book. I have couldn't wait to read this book. Millie is in a way the adopted daughter of London who is with Picnic. Millie is a sweet girl and she met Livi "Paniter" Brooks in Reaper's Stand and they formed a friendship. When Paniter went to prison Millie wroter to him. Things were good but when Painter came out he ignored her and she felt hurt because she thought they had something. They sort of got thrown together again and their friendship bloosems. Of causre Painter is a Reaper so things are never that simple and after another run in with the law that sent Painter to prison again but for longer, whenhe comes out Millie is sassy, stronger and a fighter.
This book runs in a way along side Silver Bastared. What I find slightly hard with the Reaper's books and other spin-off books is the timeline. This book starts with a scene that is in the Silver Bastareds then we go back in time and see how everything comes about between Painter and Millie. So it runs into Reaper's Stand, Silver Bastard and then this book. It may sound confusing but it's not really. I do have trouble with the timeline because at the end of other Reaper's Books it's either 18 months later, or 5 years later. In Silver Bastered it starts 18 months later then it's 5 years later.
That is the only negative I have but I love them so I just try and make sense of it after. The Reaper's MC is fantastic and so wearthy of your attention. You have to read the other books, this is not a stnad alone book and I surgest reading Silver Bastered before reading this book.
