I've just finished reading this on my Kindle and it's by turns hillarious, touching and life affirming. I love the lively, conversational style and hillarious anecdotes. I actually stayed up until 2am reading it because I just couldn't put it down! You feel a part of the world she creates and I was sorry when I had finished it as I miss the characters and the laughs!

I loved this book. It was so well written and yet so funny, I literally laughed till I cried. I think most women would enjoy this, provided they are not too prim or narrow-minded; I am a generation older than the author but I so enjoyed her stories of life in the metropolitan fast lane. Less mawkish than Bridget Jones, this book really captured the ridiculous side of life! Loads of fun to read, a perfect summer holiday book.

I've been enjoying Melissa Kite's column in the Spectator for years, and this book is NOT simply a lazy accumulation of previous writings (as are some other columnists' books), but fresh, fascinating (How DO you manage to cope with three horses? It must be fantastically expensive, at full livery!), and generally great fun. It's not chick-lit, it's real, but a 'real' that is always diverting. Melissa has experienced war situations, an insane boyfriend (and yes, actually, I DO understand why you stuck with him for so long), being not-quite-recognised by Big Stars, holidays that make me profoundly grateful not to be her... there's a strong undercurrent of personal schadenfreude, that a person of Melissa's attractiveness and independence can still be put through the wringer, but it's still optimistic, hopeful that the next Chap will be not only straight and pleasant but also SANE. Hopeful that the impossible horse will some day become gentle and biddable. Hopeful that Lambeth Council might experience a miracle, and become reasonable, perhaps even pleasant to deal with. Hopeful that she'll some day find herself equipped to deal with the traumas of life without panicking.

I've pretty much read the book at one sitting, as is my wont. However, it's also good to dip into for a few minutes. You're not left wondering who these people are, or what is the point of this page - and that, to me, is a mark of very good writing indeed.

Highly enjoyable, very well-written, and describing a life that I'm very relieved isn't mine, but is still amusing and interesting.

I have enjoyed Melissa Kite's hilarious weekly articles in The Spectator for years but she has really surpassed herself here. I couldn't stop reading this book - she is witty, honest and totally engaging. Melissa - please write a sequel! !!!!

Not only is Melissa Kite a highly esteemed journalist, she also has a lovely self-deprecating sense of humour as is witnessed by her weekly 'Spectator' articles. Highly recommended for light bed-time reading. Bring a smile to your dreams.

I read this book......... It was very amusing especially as the guy who was the fiancé is a very close relation of mine. Let's say I appreciated it......... And it was her experience. It's hardly Bridget Jones but it's a very impressive account of events through Rose Tinted Spectacles, and the best way to deal with frustration, confusion, heartache and hysteria is to sensationalise them.......... It's makes them so much easier to wear..... BARE!
