Product description

Ready to Grow Mushroom Log - Pearl Oyster.

These logs are cut from timber that would other wise be chipped, burnt or left to rot in the High Weald of Sussex. The logs are already inoculated with mushroom spawn and are ready to plant outdoors in a shady damp location at any time of year. The logs take on average between 12 to 18 months for the spawn to colonise and produce mushrooms, depending on the species, log and weather conditions. They should be treated as would a 'shade moisture loving plant'. If they are kept in too much sun or allowed to dry out they will not produce mushrooms.

  • Ready to Grow Mushroom Logs are approximately 2ft long x 4in to 5in diameter (60cm x 10cm to 12.5cm diameter).
  • The log is ready to be planted as soon as you recieve it.
  • Choose a sheltered spot out of direct sun (dappled shade is ideal), and plant it upright with about 15-20cm in the ground and the letter at the top.
  • Soil type will make no difference when growing mushrooms in this way.
  • Treat as a moisture and shade loving plant; water with the rest of your garden, always keeping the soil moist around the log to prevent it from drying out.
  • You can also plant your log in a container using the above instructions. If the log sends out shoots or leaves, simply pinch them off.
  • Variety - Pearl Oyster
  • A good thick fleshed mushroom, use as you would "white button" mushrooms.
  • Fruits in 9 to 15 months.
  • Crops in the late Autumn , Winter and Spring.
  • Plant vertical 4-6 inches deep in a damp shady area
  • Full instructions supplied
