Another excellent book in the series by Della Parker. Each lady from the reading group having their own book is a brilliant idea. I am looking forward to reading book 3.

The Reading Group: February tells Kate’s story. Kate’s marriage to Anton has gone sour and things quickly turn on their head when she meets her new builder – Bob the builder. Bob is a hunk and Kate feels an attraction straight away. The theme of the classic the girls are reading in February is sex and infidelity – and Kate hates the thoughts it’s putting in her head. By now I really wish I was a member of the Reading Group. I love catching up on their meeting each month, keeping up-to-date on the lives of all five of them and seeing how things have changed for them. I like how the book they’re reading has links to their own lives and the author really captures their friendship brilliantly and their dialogue and the way their monthly book club goes really sets up each novella perfectly.

So far Feburary is probably my favourite of the three books so far although I love them all. Each story is entertaining and uplifting, full of laughs and romance and characters who feel more like friends than strangers. I’m so looking forward to the other novellas in the series.

In February the reading group are reading Lady Chatterley’s Lover by DH Lawrence and the story centres around Kate.

Kate’s intimate relationship with her husband has taken a downward turn since he was demoted at work. When Bob the builder (no not THAT Bob the builder!!!) turns up to re-model their kitchen Kate cannot help but be attracted to him. As her long held beliefs on love are challenged, Kate struggles to keep her marriage going and discovers that what she thought was love may not be in fact the case.

The similarities between Lady Chatterley’s Lover are all there - the difficulties in the intimate side of Kate’s marriage, the class differences and hope that true love can conquer all. This instalment of The Reading Group moved me as Kate struggles to understand her feelings and worries about her marriage. Despite the themes of infidelity and the breakdown of a relationship, Della has again managed to incorporate delicious bites of humour that all adds to fully immerse the reader into the story and makes it a really enjoyable read.

The characterisation is great and by this book I felt as much a part of the reading group as the people I had been reading about. I really loved finding out more about the different members of the group and getting to know them on a personal level.

This is a great series - fantastic if you want a light, humorous read and I love the concept of the stories mirroring those of classic novels. While I love a classic novel they are not for everyone and this series is a great way for people to access those timeless stories who may otherwise may not read the originals. I’m really looking forward to the next novella in the series.

So, grab a cuppa and some cake, turn off your phone, get cosy and spend an afternoon with The Reading Group.

The Reading Group choose 'Lady Chatterley's Lover' this month and it's not long before Kate, who is struggling to help her husband after he's been demoted at work, begins to see similarities to her own situation and that of Lady Chatterley - especially when the handsome carpenter, Bob, turns up to refurbish the kitchen. But only one man is guaranteed to bring happiness and it's the Reading Group that helps her through the emotional upset. A strongly written and well thought through story.

Well, this is the second in the series from Della Parker and I have to say the ONLY time I stopped reading was when I my laptop fell off the bed as I fell asleep. The best thus far. Splendidly put together around the themed "reading group" choice book of Lady Chatterley's Lover. The characters, especially Bob the Builder and his broken relationship and the ties with his daughter he devotes on are heart wrenching. His alternate dream of a voice actor so extraordinarily interestingly placed. I just want to know more about him and so want their relationship to flourish. Very real characters and quite brilliantly placed in roles around the book in question! I am in awe of this talent required to do this and I don't say that lightly. Exceptional read. More please!

Della Parker has done it again.
The third in the Reading Group series, and this is, I think, the best so far.
The Group are reading Lady Chatterley's Lover (I really ought to read it again, it's a long time since I did).
Kate and her husband Anton have been having difficulties - in the bedroom - since he was demoted and his assistant became his boss.
At the same time, Bob the Builder (!) starts work in their house to build them a new kitchen.
Kate herself finds similarities in her situation and that of Constance Chatterley (though there are no references to forgetmenots in the story). Things get worse, not better, for her, but then, as in all good love stories, it all ends happily again..
I like happy endings, they make me smile.
