Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
David Rudd's new book is likely to cause quite a stir in the children's literature world. Very clear and very contentious about what he doesn't like in contemporary children's literature criticism and theory, Rudd presents his own view of classic children's texts. No major scholar is spared in his criticism, and though some may object to how categorical he sounds, I personally found it very refreshing. This book will be particularly useful to those who are attempting to challenge the 'deficit' model in children's literature theory.

It's a textbook. Needed it for a children's lit course. It's hard to follow....sentences are as long as paragraphs with lots of large unnecessary words. The author seems to not take his audience in consideration.
