I’ve read a couple of “how to be a writer” books and for the most part they are too much about the author. Not this book. This really will help you to become a writer.

It was a gift. I didn’t read it. The person who read it was happy

A birthday present from the wife, I always doubt my writing strength based on the amount of sales I don't generate, so I thought, what the heck give it a go.
More than a little disappointed, I must admit, for various reasons.
The Author never managed to catch my interest, and his examples were far away from the books I normally read. Equally, I found that his writing style is wildly different from mine, and yes, there was some interesting cross over points I marked out and took note of. The bulk of it was not in directions I myself would tread.
Like photography and art, I suspect this is one that you either get or you don't. It won't appeal to everyone.

I enjoyed this book and found it insightful. For once, I actually read the literary examples. This conclusion stays with me: "The act of writing in itself is not special. And if you ever find yourself thinking that it is - that you are - special, then give yourself a talking to."
