The Naga is meant for MMO gamers, this means games such as World of Warcraft or Guild Wars 2. I own both games and the mouse works flawlessly with each, nothing to install and no issues to report. But I should mention, those are also the *only* games I use the mouse for. When I'm playing FPS games or just use the PC for standard tasks, I use my Razer Imperator.
The Naga has a good grip on the right side which is interchangeable depending on your grip type. I just use the one already on the mouse, but it would be worth experimenting to find what's comfortable. The numbers on the left side are easy to use but it may take a while to get used to it, but that's by no means a total negative as using this if far easier than using a keyboard and a mouse with limited options. Razer do make a keyboard for MMOs called the Anansi, but I haven't tried it as I'm happy with what I have.
The mouse comes with a charging dock that acts as the wireless transmitter and the cable to that can also unplug and be used to make the mouse wired. I have only used wireless and have had no problems with battery although unlike the Razer Mamba there is no battery display. Speaking of which, if you have used the Mamba or the early Imperator, the feel of the mouse will be a familiar one.
Overall this mouse may not be essential for you, I just got it to make MMO gaming that bit easier for me. I often say that Razer products are expensive but worth it for the quality but this mouse has a specific purpose. If you want a basic Razer mouse I would say the Imperator or Deathadder would be a better choice.
Could not recommend it more, since buying this I have joined it with a Razer Anasi keyboard, also excellent, and have literally just ordered the razer megalodon headset as well.
**Amendment, after a year it has broken, double clicking left mouse button has made this mouse pretty much useless. I now consider this mouse a piece of exotica for the gaming world, much like a Maserati, it's great while it's working.
recommended if your a gamer of any type, it's very versatile.
The adjustment period for the back and forward button on the top takes a short while and the 12 side buttons take even longer, varying from person to person.
Personally, I still cannot get used to them considering the button placement is too close together. The mouse comes bundled with rubber indents to stick on but these peel quickly given the nature of a heated hand. I was much more in favour of the button placements on the Logitech Proteus Core or the Mad Catz R.A.T. M.M.O.7, however the latter mouse suffers from a sensor that is prone to breaking.
The two areas this mouse targets and targets well are the MMO gamers benefiting extra button placement and the wireless mouse market. The battery lasts a while and it is plug and play with many different colours to allocate.
The biggest drawback of this product is that it is Razer. Razer by any means are not a bad company, often having varied experiences customer service wise but a personable front more often than not. That being said, their software is a nightmare. Razer Synapse, required to use this mouse to its full potential, has often interfered with my audio settings despite never having owned or used a headset by them.
Nevertheless, if you can get past the software issues and potential of not getting used to the button placement, this is a reliable mouse that has lasted approximately a year with a good eight months heavy usage.
However the software does come into a few issues, such as not initializing the cursor speed correctly meaning you have to turn the mouse off and on again, not a major issue, but can be somewhat annoying on startup, The software provided isnt too bad however, there is a lot of custom options, and profiles included,
The cable for the WiFi dock also comes out so you can plug it directly into the mouse when the charge is low, and will also charge it whilst being in use.
Its a good product, and definitely worth the money.
I am a gamer and sometimes play for many hours at a time and I have found that on occasions the mouse dies at the most inconvenient times. You can connect the mouse directly, rather than have it wireless; which is the method I am now trying but if you do need it to be wireless, then you have to always remember to switch it to charge.
Apart from that the mouse is great. It has three different 'sides' which are shaped, so that you can pick the shape that best suits your own hand.
My other half didn't like it, as he has quite big hands and found it to be too small, even with the largest of the sides attached but I have reasonably large hands for a girl and it fits perfectly and is not too bulky.
There are plenty of buttons to assign for gaming and it works out of the box for Guildwars 2 and is super easy to programme to suit your gaming style. Personally, I mapped my movement keys to the mouse and have my keyboard QWERTY etc mapped for spells. Works a treat once you get used to it. Speedy delivery and good packaging.
