A mouse is only as good as the surface it runs on, and when it comes to gaming action the mouse needs to have a low degree of friction but still get a good resolution from its surface ... and this mat delivers it in spades. If my boss would let me spend his money, I'd have one of these in the office as well as it is a pleasure to use.
The shape is a bit odd, the curves are great for looks, but not so good for functionality; the curved side edges don't let me place it square against the desk edge and the curved bottom edge means that a wrist wrest doesn't sit properly; as this mat is used more for general usage than games.
My Logitech MX518 is running well on it and I've got no complaints; if you value a good, responsive mouse, then you'll value a good surface, and the Destructor delivers.
If I had any suggestions, I'd say ditch the bling and make a cheaper version for non-travelling users, and also make a smaller, economy version for office users.
Find it nicely responsive with FPS games and the wear down on the Imperator feet isnt that bad.
Was a bit surprised to see it in a hard case tho ;)
Ok lets look at this objectively, I've had the destructor mouse mat for about a year, maybe a little longer (16 months maybe). I've been using it with a razer abyssus and the two do go well together, the mat is very fast at about 1/4 the friction of a QcK, its also a nice product: no significant signs of wear after a years gaming use, it looks practically new, it tracks excellently which is just a well as the abyssus has a flaky sensor which doesn't like some surfaces; its a quality hard mat with a rubberised back to stop it slipping on the desk, its mid size so good for mid to high sens gamers.
As I mentioned its very fast so ideal for high sens gamers but that and the mid size make it unsuitable for low sens gamers, perfect size for me however @ 10"/360.
The down side to all the quality of this product is that the surface is practically a very high grit whetstone, to start with your mouse will glide over the mat like its on ice but all too quickly your mouse's feet will start to wear down, and the more worn down the feet get the higher the friction gets as the contact area increases... until about a year into use your mouse feet are practically flat to the undercarriage of the mouse and you're grinding the undercarriage. This isn't going to be a big issue if you're OK with the idea of changing your mouse feet every 4 months or so to maintain peak performance, but you're unlikely to be happy to do that unless you take gaming very seriously indeed.
Your choice but consider yourself warned!
Its a 4* product but i'm giving it 3* to balance all the 5* reviews from people who've obviously reviewed this mat without using it for an extended period first.
People are saying it is a massive mat. No its not its a decent size and you should have no trouble finding a place for it. As long as your not cramped into a corner then you should be fine but it wont fit on a keyboard tray with your keyboard so if you like to put your mouse there dont buy this mat.
The design is prity cool and looks so much better than a standard rectangle shape. The curves dont get in you way as their is plenty of room in the middle of the mat.
I am a fan of razer products so I could be a little bias but it definatly helps the responsivness of your mouse.
If your a pc gamer and want to have a little bit of an advantage then get this. If you only play games once a week or so then get a regular mat and save your money.
The tracking is exceptional and the materials are great; still looks new after few months of use.
The mat is kinda hard to clean especially if u get some dust on it, looks like the dust gets stuck in the crystals or maybe i just suck at cleaning, anyway it didn't affect the tracking, so im good
The mat will wear down your mouse feet pretty quickly, depending of the wear you give your mouse anyway, but that's the price to pay for a quality mat - im using a razer deathadder btw and the combination is excellent
If you're a hardcore gamer or a "competitive" gamer and don't mind buying mouse feet once in a while (they're not that expensive anyway) this is a mat for you
Only downside for me its the price hence he 4* rating
