There's not too much you can say about a keyboard... the resistance on these keys are non-existant. It feels like my reaction times on online FPS games have improved. Between this and a configured Logitech G9X, my online performance has gone from average, to great. Was bad equipment a limiting factor?

I also have slightly bent baby fingers, which is a bit of a weird condition. The actualtion force on the keys is dramatically less, meaning I can crouch (ctrl) using my baby fingers far more easily, Before, it was uncomfortable to do so.

The keyboard itself looks far more classy in real life. The macros are a good feature but I never use them. But yes, a mechanical keyboard is a bit like a SSD - once you use one, you'll not want to go back!

However, as these keyboards use "blue" Cherry MX switches, the keyboard is quite loud. Bit like typing on a typewriter. It'll be no concern to the user, but may be annoying to others, especially if you're typing in close proximity.

You'll see other gaming keyboards, cheaper and more expensive, but if they're not mechanical, don't bother! Would recommend this to anyone, gamer or not.

Hi,
I spent a lot of time prior to purchase researching the 'right' mechanical keyboard. If you want more guidance than what Amazon or these reviews consist of, I'd highly recommend slotting 30min out of your day to check out videos of products on YouTube. There is an abundance of comparative videos shot in HD that are straight to the point, etc.

In any case, my only other experience with mechnanical keyboards directly is the QPenn DT-35. This happens to be the most popular however that's globally; its major in South Korea. In the West, its more diverse. However, at this price point most people I see posting on this are considering this keyboard, another Razer, or Steelseries.

Good points of the Black Widow:

-LEDs: If you like your keyboard to 'glow', this will do that for you. It adds a certain flare and novelty in the dark.
-Typing Speed Increase: There's no doubt that you will notice a difference between this and a lower-end, comes-with-PC keyboard. Previously, I had used a Microsoft Internet Keyboard and a Logitech MX Wireless; both I loved and was able to get about 65-70wpm on. With this Razer, I was consistently able to achieve 80-85. I type a lot as a software analyst so this change was most appreciated.
-Macro Features: This is designed for gamers who play Massive Multiplayer Online games. However, for the casual prospective gamer be aware that most other games do NOT support this feature.
-Wires & Durability: I had no doubt that this keyboard would last me a length of time. In addition, the USB cable is gold-plated which feels especially sturdy. And the cord is of a different material which tends to not tangle.

The overuling thing about this keyboard is that it is noisy compared to a typical keyboard ( standard non-mechanical ), honestly this is the deciding factor in my opinion. i like it sounds like im using a typewriter :D There are numerous other benefits aswel, keys are so responsive even the slightest pressure is enough- once again can be positive or negative depending on your preferences. My only issue with the keyboard was the Macro keys on the left hand side situated where typically you would find Tab,Caps lock and shift etc- this took some getting used to with obvious mistakes occuring. The gaming mode function key i have found to be brilliant, no more pressing the windows key by accident and getting interrupted in game. All in all a very good keyboard- its definately worth moving to mechanical keyboards!

Hi, new amazon reviewer here, i really had to write this review as this product has been excellent so far. Here is my evaluation of the product:

This product not only combines natural typing and great feeling but it also has features not found in any other mechanical keyboard at its price range. These include the macro keys gaming mode and the function keys. As a gamer myself i play Starcraft 2 and call of duty and for both and typing this keyboard has gone far beyond my expectations with quick response time and a sleek design. Something else that got me in love with this product is the soothing sound of each click on the keyboard, although i don't hear it when i am playing or have music there is no better sound to accompany typing. ( which i am doing now )

There are some problems that lie with this keyboard such as the fact that some people may prefer not to have such a "noisy" keyboard, but that can be personal preference. Another big problem for myself is the fact that the keys are a little smaller than your average keyboard and it will take you a week or so to get use to them before u can really feel the power of this keyboard. The last problem for myself is the macro keys, because of their positioning i often press one of them instead of shift/ctrl but the macro functions make it easy to re-map them so that they do the same function as shift and ctrl pretty neat in my opinion.

Overall i believe this keyboard deserves 5 stars and is a dream to have and to type on and i recommend it to everyone, once the first week is done which is the hard part typing and gaming becomes a whole new experience, a better one =)
