I've paid this much to go to veterinary school for this??

Absolutely amazing film for blood, gore and trying not to vomit in your mouth. However, stars are lost for the absolutely ridiculous storyline. SPOILER ALERT- You study for the whole of your life because you want to become a vet- you make it- you get into veterinary school! HOORAH! You get there, your parents have paid thousands in tuition fees and what happens? Some older students come in, smash up your room and of course you do exactly what they say rather than tell them to bog off or you'll sue the university. Then, you get forced to go to a party, in your pjs, again ,everyone goes, enjoys themselves and no one thinks, "I've paid so much money and I'm a mature student so I'm going back to bed." Then you have blood thrown over you (you're fine with this because you couldn't possibly complain like an adult would) then get forced to eat a bit of unknown dead animal as an initiation (and of course you don't tell them to bog off because that would be the mature thing to do). It's a great movie for crazy gore but it's just such a stupid storyline it ruins it. It's a bunch of scared teenagers who agree to everything and are scared of everyone. I will never look at a vet in the same way again and will certainly think twice before handing Mr Tiddles over to them for the night.

A good idea done well for the tiny budget

Before the movie really starts you get to see the long list of production companies involved. Meaning this movie had no money at all.
Raw is not an perfect movie but it is good one for the small budget and for this kind of genre. What makes the movie believable are the great Make Up effects. I also find the lead actress well cast. Like all good french Horror movies "Raw" crosses a lot of moral lines. I am not entirely with the director to have made those choices but it certainly gives the movie its own flavor. Surprisingly after all the hype "Raw" is actually less bloody than compared for example to "Star Ship Troopers" or an episode of "Game of Thrones".

Original and genuinely unnerving.

I really liked the film, I felt it was very original and it constantly tried to push the envelope a bit. It has some great direction and there are some scenes that are just genuinely unnerving. Its probably not going to be for everyone though as this isnt necessarily going to frighten you but you will definitely feel pretty shocked at some scenes throughout.

A demented episode of Skins

This was a strange movie to say the least, but it was an interesting watch. I like these sorts of horros/coming of age movies, some of them are genuinely really good and this was certainly one of them. I think it was a little slow, and hardly had much plot going for it, was literally just about a girl who gets a taste for human flesh which we find out runs in the family while she's studying veterinary at this wild college. Simple really, but was an interesting movie and different and that's always a good thing.

Shock factor film
Verified purchase
From all of the hype from this film i was slightly disappointed, yes it is disgusting in some scenes, however i didn't feel connected to the entire storyline, vegetarian turns cannibal, apparently hereditary hence the vegetarianism. It was slightly confusing along the way but you do get back on track quite quickly. If you are just looking for a 'horror' which will give you the shock value, make you feel a little queasy but without a strong story behind it. Here is your film.

Predictable

I only purchased this after reading reviews that were 4-star across the board. I wish I'd looked closer and seen that all the reviewers were from very mainstream publications. If The Dark Side, Dread Central or Fangoria had been as enthusiastic I would have known it was going to be worth watching.
I only knew the basics of the plot, but it was pretty obvious how it was going to unfold ... again ... and again ... and again. What a shame, as the acting was consistently solid, and Cthulhu knows the French make great horror films, but this was a rather deflated balloon-ride.
If you're a horror nut, like me, steer clear. try Martyrs (original), Frontier(s), High Tension, or even Eyes Without a Face.

Kermode recommened this one which is why we went for it. But in spite of it's strengths, the gore factor was off the charts.
