Shockingly poor knowledge of the regency period (eg they sent for a taxi)- modern turns of phrase and too long and rambling details of "ravishment"- amateur psychologists abound among friends and family ridiculous portrayal of a reformed rake -complete waste of money

HASH(0x98d5af78) out of 5 stars Sexy and startling romance 8 May 2009
By Accent Marketing Group - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I love the way this author always has her couples meet in the most unusual or extreme circumstances.

In this case, the hero and heroine are cousins, who perhaps in their heart of hearts always loved each other, but the last thing they ever dream of is that they will make love to each other in a brothel when she is kidnapped and tied to the bed as a 'virgin sacrifice' by a depraved underground Hellfire club Matthew unwittingly stumbles into.

Althea has always loved Matthew, but he blames himself for giving in to lust for the masked and tied woman, and has no idea how to be anything other than a rake.

Althea is willing to risk all to find true love with him, and to secure their future happiness. She struggles with the opium addiction she has been left with as a result of her abductors, but has to work even harder to find out the truth about who did this to her, before another innocent girl, Philip Marshall's [hero of The Mistaken Miss] cousin Patrice, pays the same price, or worse, for becoming "The Bride of the Beast."

A really suspenseful, sexy novel, full of surprises. Just don't start it before bedtime, because you won't get a wink of sleep.

HASH(0x98d5afd8) out of 5 stars Too ridiculous for words 4 Dec. 2009
By T. Hartsfield - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
This book was beyond ridiculous. The hero supposedly made love to his cousin and he had no idea who she was. How is this possible? She spoke to him all through the process and he didn't recognize her voice? I can suspend reality for the sake of books..I even read paranormal books but the raving reviews for this book are crazy. Don't waste your time or your money on this one.

HASH(0x98d5e42c) out of 5 stars Too bad I can't give half a star 20 Jan. 2011
By Avid reader - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
GAG! While the writer has some talent when it comes to description and plot, the main characters and their relationship was implausible at best, and downright childish really. By the time Matthew had lusted over and over (and had sex with!) his cousin while she was still visibly injured from being severely beaten (so much so as to have broken some teeth... wait... he didn't feel that when he first kissed her???), I was beginning to agree with him that he was perverted. Then, when she recovers, he avoids her. Huh??? I don't get it. The author obviously had an agenda with this book -somewhere between touting the Kama Sutra and taking a stand against rape/pushing her ideal of the marital relatioinship- and it made for a silly, sickening story.

HASH(0x98d5e7f8) out of 5 stars Tedious by far 18 May 2011
By Eva - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
So I am about half way through the book and am tired already of the whining and stupidness of the "hero". Whith everyone including the heroine telling him she loves him and wants his attentions, I am sick to DEATH of hearing how he just can't think of her like that and he has so much guilt and surely it can't be like that, blah blah blah! This was a supreme disappointment. I am having a hard tie brining myself to finish it.
