When a child is born to the Dèsi clan, he is named by the druid Aonghus Gae-adúath – Aonghus the Terrible Spear – the man who will drive the people out of their land by a single cast of his spear.
Despite attempts to prevent this curse coming true, the terrible day dawns when the Dèsi must flee from the High King’s wrath and their home in Eire.
What follows is a fearsome story of journeying and incidents, of monsters and magic, and the ultimate fate of the Dèsi . . .

the book which rattled along at a good pace. It was a pleasant change that it was a complete book
and not book 1, left on a cliffhanger, etc.
Aonghus, a warrior, and his chariteer and best friend, Cairell have to flee their land with some of their
people. They are ruthlessly chased by the High King who is mad for revenge. The King has a Druid by
his side who uses mind magic and illusions to defeat enemies. Cairell is not a Druid but has some magical
abilities.
Aonghus and his people have several adventures along the way, including battling a mythical beast.
A recommended read for historical/fantasy lovers.
