The bags that we use at home seem as if they'll last forever, however the ones out and about at school have a much harder life...as I'm sure you can imagine! That said, we've only had one give up the ghost on us so far and that was the plastic bag itself that developed a hole after many weeks of use. The metal zip on these Zippi bags seems far more reliable than the plastic zippers commonly found on this type of bag and which are notorious for giving way. The size, being A4+, means that the bags comfortably hold A4 documents, books etc with room to spare which is very handy and ideal for our needs. I would highly recommend these for home or school use - they've been extensively school-tested and have survived very well.
The Zippi Bags come in varied colours, and therefore will help with any colour coordinated filing scheme. The zip closure closes well at present – that said repeated use of opening and closing these bags might mean that in the long term they will fail. Also you have to be careful that each zip bag is not over filled as this, I am sure, will cause wear and tear on the closure mechanism and the zip action will fail. That said, the metal zips are actually strong and are a good improvement over the plastic zips, which can be found on similar items.
In summation then, these Rapesco Zippi Bags are good and I would definitely recommend.
Metallic zips on the side of these bags press the seal closed very effectively. The blue and purple tints are colourful and bright, but still allow the contents of the bags to be relatively easily identified.
I've tried these with a standard relatively slim A4 file and they were just big enough. They aren't designed to take bulky books or heavy thick files, but will provide storage for a number of slimmer items. These Zippi bags also struck me as a good way to organise multiple handouts and paperwork for lecturers, tutor and teachers. Used carefully, they should last; the plastic offers some resistance to sharp cornered books but isn't indestructible.
I used similar cheaper versions as an adult education tutor some years ago, but these appear far more robust and a lot more practical.
These Zippi Bags from Rapesco, however, are over-sized and so it is not difficult to fit several sheets of paper inside them. The metal zips are really strong and do not open unless you open them. I have yet to split one which is high praise indeed.
I really love these bags and can see that they will last for many uses so will definitely be getting some more in future.
This particular version is transparent, with the only hint of colour being the zipper, which comes in an assortment of blue, green and purple. Given that it is transparent, it clearly wouldn't be very suitable for storing confidential documents, unless the documents themselves were secured by a different method e.g. a blank cover etc.
One slight annoyance which I had with these Zippi Bags was the panel with the bar code, which you can just make out in product picture. From this picture, it looks like the bar code has just been printed straight onto the clear plastic, but there is actually a very distinctive white panel printed onto the Zippi Bag, onto which the bar code, product code, manufacturer details etc have been printed. I'm not sure why this couldn't all have been included on a sticker, which could be cleanly removed after purchase, but perhaps I have being a bit too fussy, as once the Zippi Bag has been filled with paper, it does become less noticeable.
The capacity of these Zippi Bags has not been stated in the product description but given that the bag is a bit bigger than A4, its capacity is larger than I was expecting. For the purposes of this review, I was able to gather up 120 pages of 80g/sm A4 printer paper and this fitted easily into the bag, with plenty of room to spare. Whilst it might be difficult to get much more paper than this into the bag at one time (due to presence of the zip), there shouldn't be a problem with the bag being used to store double this volume of paper, but by feeding it into the bag in smaller quantities.Read more ›

A useful product for storing papers in. The zip is strong enough for paper storage but anything heavier or bulkier seems to lead to zip failure. Read morePublished 2 months ago by Ripple
