Although in kit form it is easy to assemble; you only need to add the pedals plus handlebar and make appropriate brake adjustments. Helpful if you have your own spanners as the one provided is rather flimsy.
Don’t get confused by the plastic protector on the end of the handlebar tube as this needs to be removed before assembly, although the instructions and you tube video don’t make this clear (look at the Raleigh website for location).
Well worth it, happy riding.
The bike appears to be well made. It is no longer a British made bicycle and appears to be made in Vietnam and final checks and assembly in Germany, which is a disappointment. The bike has an 18 gear Shimano gear system and is made from a super light alloy frame. The wheels are made from strong alloys, coupled with powerful alloy V-brakes and MTB tyres allow for all terrain capability. Overall the quality, design, lightness and components of this bicycle make it ideal for what it was designed to do.
Taking the bicycle out on the roads is a pleasurable experience. Whilst the frame is very light weight, you always feel in control of where it is going and it can take most kinds of terrain without any issues. I have not tested the bike to destruction up and down mountains, but for everything I have used it for/tested it for, it has come up trumps. The only downside I have found is when compared to a more expensive bike, this does feel flimsy and cheap.
At the price point it is pitched at, it offers a good overall experience, without having any WOW factor. Recommended.
This was a cheap bike so I didn't expect it to be the latest carbon fibre model but I did expect it to work. Firstly, the instructions are hopeless - there is guidance about cycling with children (that is useless if you don't have any) but very little about how to put together the large box of bits that you receive. Also, the booklet contains instructions for several types of bike so not only are the details very brief but you need to constantly check that you are looking at the instructions relating to your bike and not a completely different model. It really was trial and error as I do not having any previous cycling experience so putting the bike together took ten times as long as I was expecting. When I was sorting the brakes it became apparent that the front wheel was buckled as it caught on the brake every revolution. Amazon gave me a small refund but I still had the hassle of getting it straightened at the local bike shop. Once the front wheel was on I took the bike to the local bike shop for a check before starting on the road only to be told that the chainrings and the front derailleur are also bent (the shop thought the box containing the bike had probably been bashed during shipping). Therefore, I now have to pay for these parts to be replaced. The bike was only £85 so I will keep it but you get what you pay for so buy with your eyes open.

Brilliant bike, not that I am a great biker, but me and the wife decided to get fitter, and didn't want to spend loads of money on expensive bikes. Read morePublished 10 months ago by mike
