"The Rainmaker" is a must have double CD. This limited edition version contains a 2nd disc not just with 6 extra tracks but with 2 movie tracks and is without question well worth the extra few pounds over the other versions.
This album contains an original blend of strong memorable vocal melodies, "City of Angels" Strong harmony, unrstrained musicianship with well executed technical ability and heart felt transitions. Progressive rock at it's best with an occasional inter-play of Jazz Fusion. Roine Stolt seems at his most comfortable with his often American rock style of vocals.
Although the Genesis/Yes influence is still evident,(A good thing)There are now moments of Brand X, Floyd and even Zappa-around the 4th minute of "Road To Sanctuary." I describe the sound only and stress the Flower Kings do have an original sound of their own.
If you are new to the Flower Kings "The Rainmaker" should not disapoint but do make sure you play it quite a few times before judging or you may miss the plot. Jazz Fusion Fans will adore tracks such as "Violent Brat" and "One Whole Half"
Their best album to date. A definite 5 Stars. Buy it now.

Rainmaker is a very varied album with harder songs like last minute on earth and More dreamy weird songs such as Serious Dreamers ( for me it is a highlight). This album is a single cd album although a limited double disc version is available. It features some very good music with lots of variety and well thought out songs. Much like Paradox Hotel I feel that it is a little bit more accessible than some of their other albums.
There is some very nice guitar playing and also a very very nice drum sound is used on this album, the vocals as always are performed brilliantly and emotively, the bass keeps all the songs together with nice complex lines and fills and even has some nice little effects in places too.
All in all this is a rather superb album by The Flower Kings. one of my favourites.
I think this album shows that the flower kings can edit their sound enough to make a slightly fresh sounding album and are able to experiment and that maybe this time they wanted to go for a more basic hard rockish sound just for a change it keeps changing and exciting and some people obviously don't get that. the vocals are emotive perhaps slightly over the top but I think that is the point. the vocals are really good though Hasse Froberg is really good at singing and it shows on this album. Roine Stolt is too his vocals a just a little bit more subdued.
this album features less keyboard and more guitar and is darker than the other albums but thats not a bad thing.

Flower kings one of the brightest groups of the last decades. Music has bright identity. The beauty and originality of compositions reminds masterpieces of the seventieth. But it would be difficult for me, to compare them to someone. The greatest group of the Swedish ROCK of a scene. All albums Flower kings deserve special attention. The Reinmaker is filled with the special contents, and differs strongly from other albums. At it there is even the Tibetan subject. Remarkable group, the most beautiful music. Perhaps, that that good, but better doesn't happen.

Roine Stolt & Co have done it again. Their prolific output never seems to dip in quality and The Rainmaker is certainly going to win yet more fans for its quality Prog rock.
The CD is long (Over 70 minutes) but the tracks are a little shorter than on previous albums - condensing the highly melodic tunes works well. The quality of musicianship is top notch (as usual) and the sound is spot on. There are prog experiments inter-laced with jazz, rock, pop and even a little music that would work well as a film score.
All in all this is a lovely album that would be well worth a buy!
